I think I wasted $165 on this case. I have read today the psu shroud is riveted in place.
I am not talking about the variations to the Meshify 2.
Compact, XL, Mini. I am not talking about those cases.

How do you install 4 HDDs in the case WITHOUT decreasing maximum GPU length?

I am now concerned if the case has room for my Super Flower LeadEx VII 1300W psu. It is
150(D) mm x 150(W) mm x 86(H) mm

I read from Tom's review you can install 3 HDDs in the psu area and a fourth on top of the partition.
How can you install anything in the psu area? It is riveted.

Do not respond and tell me to use a drill and remove the screws. If I must do that it is obvious I wasted $165.

I need a case that is long enough for the longest current GPU with great air cooling and room for 4 HDDs.
I will start buying SSDs when 10TB is affordable to the average user, until then I will continue using HDDs.

If this forum has any Meshify 2 users I hope you respond with helpful response or tell me what case I should have bought.
My 670 mobo is not an extended size. I am not wanting to build a server.

I have no interest in using the HDD cage I want to keep the max GPU length of 491mm.

Now ...
Intel Core i7-4790K
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost
12GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM

Components for new build....
7800X3D
32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 6000 CL30
Samsung 990 PRO 2TB
5 Noctua 140mm fans.
Phantom Spirit CPU air cooler.
Gigabyte X670 Elite AX motherboard with latest firmware update.

I will buy the RTX 4080 Super and a LG 1440 monitor by June.
I will wait for the dust to settle and buy the GPU that has
NO coil whine. In 2023 that was the Gigabyte Gaming OC.

It was easy to build a PC 10 years ago.

Have you looked at the manual? There are some diagrams of various installation locations:

Looks like you can install 2 in the HDD cage in the PSU chamber, 1 on a bracket above the HDD cage on the back. In order to save as much room as possible for GPU you can mount a HDD on the inside top, where you would typically mount an exhaust fan.

Also, the specs show that max GPU length is:

  • GPU max length
Open layout: 470 mm (445 mm w/ front fan) - Storage layout: 290 mm

You can use PC Partpicker and filter the cases by # of internal 3.5" drives bays, but that doesn't tell you the whole story as you've found out. It can help to look at finished builds in that case though and see where you can fit certain things.

You remove the side panel then an access panel to get to the internals of the basement.
See Fractal Design's video:

don't get pissy, i too have a m2 and i too *this week* had to remove the shroud (to soak up water i spilled on it) and couldnt do it.
Frankly i'm with you with the shroud not being removable ("easily") and all the million reviewers that raved about the meshify should maybe have mentioned this, but i still think it's a good case. I mean, "years ago" if you put your hand wrong inside a case, you would wind up in the hospital with your hand lacerated, so maybe it's not SO bad.

How did your case cause you to spill water? I am fine with my case, now that I better understand what you can do with this case.
When a M.2 10TB is affordable then I will install four 10TB SSDs.

My current problem is in 2024 routing the pwr cables is not trivial. I will learn but it will not be fun.

had nothing to do with the case itself, i had a mug of water on my desk and i spilled it on the PC. Big flash of light and the power went out, but my power strip with built-in fuse managed to save the PC. I shut off the PSU, left it for a while and next day i inspected it, and the bottom of the case was wet. I needed to look inside it to see if there was any water still there that could further short out the PC. After trying and failing to remove the shroud, i removed the front fans, and the two small plastic plates that extend between shroud and front of the case, and stuck a whole bunch of absorbent paper in there for the day.

So yeah, the non-removable shroud sucks, but i guess .. they coulnd't design it otherwise? I'm sure it helps with the rigidity of the structure, which in turn helps with the quietness.
