mesmerized by cleaning my keyboard

it takes me into the zone. using a folded 3x5 card, a business card, really any tough paper and running it between the rows of keys. clumps of hair and lint appear. nail clippings. i feel manly seeing the amount of filth that are between my keys. 'yeah, that's a big clump!" almost a badge of honor. i done good.

Do a real good cleaning and put it into the dishwasher.

I just pop the keys off and throw them in some dish water. Swish them around for a bit then let them sit while I clean out the base of the keyboard.

I've heard of putting them in a dishwasher....doesn't seem right to me...kinda like cooking fish in the dishwasher...

I really prefer the compressed air method. Fast, efficient and utterly empowering. When I let go with a mighty blast, the dust bunnies leap from me in fear!

Mine could use a good cleaning, but I'd rather do something easy like pop it in a dishwasher. It just goes against everything I've learned about computers and electronics in general. Is this safe to do if you let it dry long enough?

Could you pop it in the dishwasher if you have a wireless keyboard? I assume you would have to take out the batteries.

I have known people that have succesfully cleaned thier KB in the dishwasher. If a KB is really grungy, I gently pop off each key, blow the board out with canned air and clean each key before popping them back on. It takes awhile but makes a big difference. If it's a cheap, $9.00 keyboard, I just replace it.
