Why is it that all right wingers mockingly refer to Obama as "Messiah" and "His holiness"?

Is there anything wrong with dems feeling strongly about the POTUS?

It seems like when most elections roll around, neither party is very into their candidate. Finally someone came around that people were happy with, and people act like it's a bad thing?

Just never really understood that.

Eh, let them. W had plenty of well earned nicknames too as I recall. Do you watch/read any media that regularly refers to Obama as such (outside this forum), and if so...why?

The Messiah/Holy Chosen One theme was clearly evident in the campaign iconography (which gave Leni Riefenstahl a run for her money). The tinypic link below show some (some) of the many pics that intentionally show Obama with the light behind him -as if God had his back or something. If anyone actually listened to what Obama actually said it was evident he was making promises that would never add up (free tuition and puppies! No new taxes -rebates/cuts for most of you!). The election was about form over substance and celebrity. Obama was portrayed as the reincarnation of Kennedy's, MLK. FDR, Mark Twain and Abe Lincoln all at once. Obama was marketed as the promised golden child of the 60's. Now he's just Rosemary's Baby all grown up.

At the end of the day, there is always GOP propaganda value to be had in calling Obama the Messiah, even though np serious democrats makes any such claims.

But I might point out, the democrats missed the similar propaganda value when GWB called himself the Decider.

I mean, when we compare the two words, Messiah and Decider, is there a dimes worth of difference in the arrogance factor??
