Republicans fancy themselves to be morally inspired and the party of God. It is only natural that worshiping themselves for their virtue in the eyes of God they would project their sickening egotism on Democrats. They see in the other what THEY are.

Meanwhile we have a pres who is possibly the most transparent with his faith ever seen with Democrats.

?It?s what keeps me grounded. It?s what keeps my eyes set on the greatest of heights,? Obama told members of the Redemption World Outreach Center in Greenville, S.C., according to The Associated Press.

When people work together, there is ?nothing that can stop us because that?s God?s intention.? the senator exhorted.

?Sometimes you can become fearful, you can become vain, sometimes you can seek power for power?s sake,? Obama confessed, according to NBC. ?Pray that I can be an instrument of God,? he pleaded.

No. Not true. In fact I don't hear many representatives on either side of the isle mention God at all. Occasionally they do when it gets around to election time. Also, when, recently, has any Republican't in Washington done anything to counter the Democrat party?

Back to OT: Farakhan was the earliest I could find. He also had the knickname Osama Obama back, bestowed by Ted Kenedy, back before he was even in the race I believe.

I very much wonder what will happen to GOP howling if Obama does decide he needs to play the part of the Messiah to get anything done.

So far, if anything, Obama is acting rather naively in thinking that he can include the GOP in any consensus or reasoned discussions. A very um messiah like behavior from Obama.

Already many democratic leaders are gradually realizing the if the GOP only wants to play the part of obstructionists, the time is coming to unite the democratic party in the same lock step manner the GOP has done, and simply bulldoze the GOP aside. After all, the dems have the presidency, a big majority in the House, and a basically filibuster proof majority in the Senate.

And then we could talk about the tyranny of the majority, or should we talk about the current tyranny of the minority.

Or we can kick the can down the road until the mid-term election of 11/2010, right now the GOP seeming has all its eggs in the basket of assuming the American people will reward the GOP for being only obstructionists and continuing the failed policies of GWB, when exactly the opposite thing happened in the elections of 11/2006 and 11/2008.

It seems like when most elections roll around, neither party is very into their candidate. Finally someone came around that people were happy with, and people act like it's a bad thing?

Just never really understood that.

People were happy with? Are you kidding? People were happy with Bush but that didn't stop you pukes from bringing him down any chance you had.

BTW, did anyone notice that Obama is keeping Bernanke - a Bush appointee! hmmmm...maybe Bush did some things right.

That notion coming from Bush voters is of course the height of comedy.

You mean, like all the people that voted for him because he was such a strong and well known candidate. Anyone that says they ever heard of the guy before the primaries is either in the Chicago area or a liar.

CPA says, "Go ahead and Google any of the quote. Theres many sources. Who is the party of God now?"

Since Obama is simply taking the same position Lincoln took in his relationship with God, I hardly think its a plea unique to any political party.
And rather than claim God is on their side, some hope to do the will of God. A subtle difference that seems to soar right over CPA's head as he
seeks to build a few silly anadotal incidents into some compelling proof that is simply not there.

FFS you are confused. CPA didnt post that.

Can you explain the difference between "I am driven with a mission from God." and "?Pray that I can be an instrument of God? please? Other than the obvious party affiliations of those who said them.

Again, I didn't say that. I am an agnostic. My point was that in one post moonie is bashing the repubs about their faith then in another he embraces that same faith.

Noting how easy that was to see that I'm a f'ing hypocrite, ask yourself further now, who else's mental state I might be reflecting.

Someone must have said... long long ago.. something like

"The honour of man is his learning.
Wise people are torches lighting the path of truth.
In knowledge lies man's opportunity for immortality.
While man may die, wisdom lives eternally."

Obama was like super famous after the 2004 democratic convention. it was widely assumed that he'd run and be competitive in the 2008 primaries... I distinctly remember a magazine cover (time?) with a picture of Obama and the headline "The Next President?"

I get so annoyed when people are all like "omg, he came from nowhere."

Bear in mind that the average American's (I'm not being partisan here) attention span ends with 'what's on TV tonight'. Yes, people who follow politics knew of Obama, but the average American didn't know much of anything about him until late 2007.

Just never really understood that.

Mr Bush's job approval ratings were so bad at the end of his presidency that people were hopeful and optimistic for any positive change. Bush's supporters were and are in denial about this so they did and are doing their best to make Mr Obama's supporters look like nuts.
