It's a great game. Preordered it and played it since launch. The only issue I have is the Side Op missions which tend to be a bit repetitive. Go extract highly skilled soldier, go rescue hostage, go find blueprint.

There are some pretty cool side missions but it's not like the Witcher 3 where the side missions were just as good as the main quest missions!

The visuals are great and I'm glad it's 60 frames per second. Overall, it's a great game but I still have awhile to go before I complete it. So I'm hoping it surprises me like Metal Gear Solid games always do.

I have both a PS4 and Xbox One, does it matter which console I get this game for? I actually prefer the Xbox controller, so I'd probably get it for the Xbox unless it's better on the PS4.

It is about the same on each console at first glance. There are some minor detail bumps on the PS4 vs the XB1, but nothing to worry about.

I don't know if there's any differences in graphics but I can guarantee you that you won't notice unless you're running both versions side-by-side, no matter which version is technically "better".

I will say, they could've made better water effects... The ocean surrounding motherbase is pretty lack luster... It's like it was almost there, but realized they ran out of time. Some parts of the water looks great but others look like it came straight from quake 3 graphics. It's translucent, but doesn't catch the light properly, and there are no proper waves. The waterfalls are a joke too... Water could've been amazing in this game, but it's definitely disappointing. They could've done great things with it.... Other than that, graphics seem to amaze me every time I fire up the game... Animation, art direction, it's just too notch. Sincenive stopped playing the damn side ops and going straight for the missions, the game is MUCH better. Plus quiet and the sniper as a buddy is WAY better too...

yeah KB + Mouse for me!
How do you control you movement speed with KB/M? I tried it and liked the controls for the most part but I was limited on speed control so I couldn't' do any stealth, I ended up using my Xbox controller

There might be an easy way to do it but the R&D platform target practice side op makes me irritated, granted I've only tried a few times. Usually on all the other ones there's a place you can stand and see pretty much all of them. On that one I feel like they are spread all over the platform, down walkways, under the platform itself; everywhere.

wow. Chapter 2 sucks. seriously. It's just a rehash of chapter 1 but with alterations like no reflex mode, no support, no chicken hat. What. the. hell. no more story? was mission 31 the last level? I have to shoot quiet again?

No, you get more once you do a few more missions. You need to do like 4 or 5 more and the next yellow will unlock. Side ops count too so you can do the quick ones.

I agree. I ended up just watching a youtube video to learn where all the targets are.

well... I guess the last mission is 45... the "secret" mission 46 is virtually really annoying to get, and I'm contemplating whether or not I want to pursue it.. I have to play 48-49-50 (more re-hash of chapter 1 in extreme difficulty - i.e. 1 shot death, no 'reflex' mode, no chicken hat mode -- which i use all the time -- and of course, no u know who -- doesn't make it less annoying)

And I have to wait 3.5 hours for each base facility to complete? seriously guys? In real time? You can't phantom cigar this away?

Yeah me too, that's because it was so heavily story based, that every level (granted with minimal game play hehehe) accomplishes something. There's a sense of accomplish to read the next chapter. This game, is just the same thing over and over again. The only thing they're missing are you being able to fly planes. Or have a grappling hook to go to places you can't go. Far Cry accomplishes this with bigger reward. If MGS5 was a 10, than Far Cry 4 is a 10+

After I got past that stupid first level I was relieved to learn that this wasn't MGS2 or one of Kojima's masturbation fantasies about being a movie director. There is an actual game in there and it's pretty darn great.

It reminded me Far Cry 4 the whole time. The story is there but you can skip all the cut scenes (if I eschew stupid Hollywood movies then why would I watch this amateur CGI "movie"). At some point you will get into the story near the end and thankfully you can follow that with the audio tapes while you go about your business. I will admit I did get into the story by the end and having played the first Metal Gear on NES it's funny how it all ties together. The order you go about mission is irrelevant as the story progression missions are still linear, they only show up in order.

Far Cry 4 is a bigger game with more content but this game has a nice Japanese take on the open world genre with some grinding aspects to it. It makes you grind for soldiers to staff your base. It makes you grind for weapons. If you were wondering about getting Quiet a non lethal weapon - just grind, it will happen.

I like the non linear aspect of it - which is what makes it like Far Cry. I'd say the mechanics of the game are better than Far Cry 4 but there is the grinding factor. If anything it seems like a hybrid of Destiny and Far Cry 4. They are still changing things up with online events and patches - just like Destiny. And just like Destiny when you are done you are done. You never want to touch it again.

For the record I did every mission and the hard mode ones are not that hard you just need to find a good strategy and you'll see that even the subsistence missions are not that hard. If anything they are a great challenge and very rewarding to beat.

For that final Subsistence mission where you have to blow up the three antennas I just ran up, knocked out a guard and took his gun, shot the antennas until they exploded from behind cover, and ran away

That's funny. So many ways to skin the cat in this game. I've heard you can do the mission from the helicopter. Just shoot them down before you land.

There is this horribly buggy mission: Lingua Franca where fi you don't start the mission during the day, some interrogation cutscenes dont trigger. I retried this bloody mission more than 20 times, read the forums, saw videos and stood in the exact same spot from the guy in the videos but the interrogation just wouldnt trigger. Read in one of the comments then that the mission needs to be started during the day cos the main guy gets interrogated at night. Seriously screwed me up, but i hope they fix stuff like these in future patches. Completely game breaking.

A game shouldn't be about "grinding". It should be fun. And it lost its appeal 20 missions ago.

The game is well written enough that you can find an alternative way to beat the mission even if you start at night. For the record that mission can be beaten without watching the interrogations but you won't get the side objectives.

The grinding is how they make a 15 hour game a 50 hour game. It's going to be more common given the costs of making original material these days.

However getting mission 46 does not involve grinding. If I remember correctly you have to listen to all the yellow audio tapes though. There is a good reason for that in that the mission 46 story sort of requires the information in the tapes for full effect.

Also mission 45 is really an optional mission. You can beat the game without playing it but why? It was probably the most fun mission in the game. Many unlocked mission 46 before 45. Just go in and clear out all the yellow dots in the tape player and you will get it.

It wasn't the first mission that required you to listen to the tapes either and that brings me to another very stupid part of the game when you had to go through a thousand people and isolate them. That was really annoying and it really was a huge time waster. Far Cry never makes you suffer with fluff like that.

Also Mission 46 is a boring mission, you didn't miss anything gameplay wise. It's just this guy pretending to be movie director again.
