I was a (big) Metallica fan all the way through the Black Album. Saw them in concert on the "And Justice for All" tour while confined to a wheel chair, 8 days after almost killing myself in a car wreck (2 crushed feet, jaw broken in 3 places and wired together, nerve damage to face, concussion). Second time I saw them in concert was the Black Album tour, and I was bored to frickin' tears. Haven't really listened to them much since. Thought that Load and Reload were crap, and I'm not even sure if they've released anything new since. I think that it was pretty sorry that they announced that they were disbanding and released the Live $hit boxed set, and didn't even have the common decency to actually break up. Then came the Napster debacle, and I lost any little tiny bit of respect that I had for these guys. Now, here comes St. Anger (what a pu$$y sounding name) with a secret code that lets you download "free" music from their website. Ooh ahh. Whatever. They've even got a video game coming, and will be showing previews of a VIDEO GAME before their concerts on the St. Anger tour. What a bunch of stupid, sell-out, corporate rock has-beens.

E.

EDIT: Thanks for the hot deal, but I think that I will not be taking advantage of it.

EDIT2: Oh, a friend of mine has already downloaded this and deleted it after listening. Said that it wasn't worth keeping, even for free.

Another "former" big fan here, I will never tire of listening to Kill 'Em All. Did a quick search last night on P2P, yep it's there, full album in one big ol' archive. I wasn't in the right mood for music last night, just skimmed two of the songs, made me wanna cry. I even got my hopes up b/c I read that it was "heavier". Don't get me wrong, I'd pay the $10 if I like it, so good deal. I bought Load at midnight when it came out, at least the free pizza was good. I'm not even sure if I own Reload... The best thing since Black was Garage Inc., but then again that was just a collection of old and cool stuff, which big fans would have had already.

Please remind me how people liking or not liking Metallica has anything to do with a "Hot Deal"? The posts about how to get the album cheaper should stay, and everyone else's should move to Current Events forum.

Maybe 'cause it's not a hot deal - this CD blows ass. What are those guys thinking? I'd rather have them drinking again - at least their music was good then. This stuff is boring, uninspired, and just plain putrid.

What a bunch of thread-crappers. I feel sorry for koohead, he was just letting everyone know about a deal he found.

I can't remember which magazine, Stuff or FHM, but they gave it FIVE STARS.

Money might not be able to buy you love (or at least long-term love), but it'll sure buy a 5-star blurb in the music section of a men's interest mag.

Almost every mag has givin it 4 or 5 stars. I wonder what they are smoking. This album is very bland and sub par for Metallica. It almost sounds like they want to be a nuMetal band. Load was an OK album but everything after that one was all downhill and this is no exception.

Oh and I'm not threadcrapping... I actualy picked up a copy yesterday at CC. 9.99 is a great deal. The DVD is interesting. I own all of Metallica's previous albums.. so I may as well this one too

Here's an example that ends all discussion on what magazine reviews are worth:
When lame Van Halen 3 came out a few years ago, Playboy magazine CD "review" rated it high and said it was as good as 1984 ! ('nough said.)

Anyone know how this boycott of new Metallica is turning out? Are sales disappointing enough for Lars to miss his boat payments or what?

God, I hope so.

"Hey, let's piss off a bunch of fans who might have just downloaded a few of our songs and use the publicity to promote our summer tour!" "MONEY...GOOD!, GRABASSES...BAD!!!"

Imbeciles. Even if "they" somehow manage to kill file sharing services like Kazaa, it'll just go back to FTPing. It might suck, but it's functional, and there would be too many to search everywhere.
