It sounds so much better than end stage or stage 4 cancer.
My aunt had an MRI this morning and that is what they found, on her liver and lungs.
She is the last of her generation in our family, and misses everyone. She will not fight this. She has thankfully only been ill a few weeks.

Sorry to hear that, man. Sounds like she has had a long life, but cancer is a crappy way to end it. Something or other gets us all eventually.

Really sorry to hear that. My grandpa's doctor called it the same thing when they found cancer that had spread to his brain. The phrase stuck.

Is she going into hospice care? A good hospice program will go a long ways to keeping her comfortable.

Dammit...my condolences. It seems like you just lost your mom a couple of months ago. (but I know it was a couple of years)

Was your mom related to your aunt? (sister?) Or was she on your dad's side?

It sucks to lose family members.

I think that is exactly what I'd do, and I hope it gives her a really good chance and making a dignified and painless exit.

Its a horrible thing when a loved one leaves us but theres huge value in them being pain free and leaving when they chose to. Some things are worth fighting and some things are not and its a brave and difficult decision to make.

There is data out there that suggests that at least in certain advanced lung cancers (the scope of the study) that early intervention with palliative care/hospice actually prolongs survival, in addition to quality of life.

Sorry OP, cancer is truly, truly awful. We certainly wish the best for you and your family.

She is finally at peace now.Tough lady, she and my mom were lovingly called "the sweat sisters" by my sister's husband, for they were always out in the garden working hard with sweat bands on. Mary and I went to Hawaii a half dozen times with her and her husband first, and later with just her after he passed in 2006.
We miss her.
We miss them all.

Thank you guys. Everybody is worn down from the vigil. Her children and my brothers and sisters stayed with her, along with hospice staff. There were two people there day and night for the last few weeks.
