In response to proposed federal legislation regulating illegal immigration Mexicans, Mexican-Americans, and Central Americans organized nationwide demonstrations scheduled for March 27, 2006. Part of this demonstration was the encouragement of Mexican/Central American students to walk out of schools across the nation at a set time.

Students from the surrounding area complied with this, and pulled down the American flag flying in front of the Montebello High School, placing a Mexican flag followed by the American flag, flying upside down.

The incident was reported in several local newspapers, sparking a firestorm of controversy on many websites[3] and was widely forwarded around the country by email.

I don't see what's wrong with the statement. In the middle-class subdivision I live in, Mexicans (or people of Hispanic origin) have bought several houses over the past few years, and well over 1/2 of them have completely ignored the CC&R's about painting their houses, probably 3/4 of them have 2 or 3 families living in 4 bedroom houses, and while I don't know of any chickens in the yards, broken-down cars are common, trashy yards are common, and (gawd-forbid) "little brown ones" are running all over the place unsupervised.

nothing is wrong with it, it's just that dave was talking about how bad illegal immigration is/was in some other threads and now he's upset because they are being deported and their lives are being "shattered."

Before somebody tells you what a bigot you are, I'll chime in. My last house was a tri-level with large yard, mature trees, swimming pool, etc., in a nice, quiet, well-established neighborhood in the suburbs. Only one of the houses on my street was a single-story ranch, the rest were similar to or better than mine. A single Mexican family moved into the ranch, and within weeks, there were multiple families living there. I frequently counted 12 cars, 4 deep in 2 rows in the driveway, and 4 more in the yard. Somebody was always sitting in at least one of the cars, blaring music and smoking dope. There were always kids in the street in front of the house, refusing to move for cars and harassing the other kids, and many of them were under 5 and running free and half-naked through our yards. When we went on vacation, they let themselves into our back yard (privacy fenced with a locked gate) and started carrying off our patio furniture; luckily my neighbor called the cops on them before they made their escape.

After that, my neighbors started having verbal confrontations with them and/or calling the cops every night, but I saw the writing on the wall and decided to get out before they painted their house Smurf-blue with purple trim. I sold it to a mullet-headed redneck with a large family including two rough teenage boys, who I predicted would be more "pro-active" than I was willing to be.

I really don't think that is a fair question. It is not black and white at all. I believe that everyone is essentially against illegal immigration. What people differ on is how both legal and illegal immigration is dealt with and how they feel it should be handled.

I really don't think that is a fair question. It is not black and white at all. I believe that everyone is essentially against illegal immigration. What people differ on is how both legal and illegal immigration is dealt with and how they feel it should be handled.
