Miami Vice = The Hotness

They aired the two part Miami Vice pilot on cable the other day. I watched them both and remembered how good that series actually was. Fvcking sweet when Crocket and Tubbs are driving to meet the drug lord in Crocket's Ferrari Daytona Spyder (I know, it wasn't a real Ferrari) with Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" playing in the background.

Of course, I was in my teens when that show first aired. :thumbsup:

I'd actually like to see this movie.

Not having seen the movie, I'd guess the song at the end is by Nonpoint. They did a good cover of "In the Air Tonight" on their Recoil album.

Yeah, I saw that in HD on NBC the other night and that scene actually gave me goose bumps. It's funny how powerful that one scene was back then and then to have it redone in a similar way today and still have that impact....that says a lot about Mann. Even though he said he didn't consider this a remake.

Seeing that original "Ferrari" brought back memories (I'm 29, so I've got a few years on purbeast and can actually remember the old show ).

Seeing Colin Ferrell looking like white trash really doesn't sound like a good reason to spend $9 and two hours.

Maybe when it hits DVD. Maybe.

Miami Vice was one of my favorite shows in the 80s. The other one was Remington Steele <P. Brosnan of the James Bond films>. Both are classics. I am planning to watch Vice on Sunday.

BTW, for those of you that are Miami Vice fans, Circuit City has season 1 and 2 together for $35, very good deal.

It was OK. Don't expect too much, but if you like movies it's worth a go. Little too much Collin Ferrell, but it was tolerable.

Here's an interesting bit, the leading lady is Li Gong. Not bad at all for 41 according to IMDB.

I cant handle that in movies. Seriously thats my deciding factor in not going to see this movie tonight. Keep the god damn camera straight!

The very first time I watched Heat I thought "meh". It was a bit slow, drawn out dialogue, overdramatic (like you described). After the 2nd viewing, I absolutely loved it and placed it among my all time favorites. Michael Mann is brilliant when it comes to character development. His movie, though, requires a bit of your attention span to fully enjoy.

I for one will definitely see Miami Vice even though I never watched the original TV series.

His movies not only have great dialogue, they also have have awesome cinematography The way he intergrates the soundtrack into his movies is perfect.

He is such a perfectionist.

Remember the part in Collateral with the wolf crossing the street, then Audioslave comes on.

Miami Vice was one of the best shows on TV, and started all these "realistic" cop shows like CSI that we have today. Before that, cop shows were TJ Hooker and Rockford Files- you'd have a goofy bad guy and the hero would come in and solve the case in the nick of time type cliches.

Michael Mann is a genius with the genre...you'd think he was a drug dealer first hand or something.

It also has the three things that make it a perfect movie:

- Sex
- Violence
- Vehicle chase

they had some HOT cars in that movie. and i loved that boat ride from miami to havannah ... what a great fvcking scene.

Rockford Files was actually a pretty good show. It kicked the crap out of shows like MacGyver which many wankers here seem to adore.

I hate that bumpy camera crap so many movies are using these days... no it doesn't make you feel like you are in the movie, it makes the seen painful to watch is all

I watched it last night and thought it was pretty good. Only thing I didn't like was Colin Farrel! First half of the movie seemed like his voice was dubbed over, and the rest he was trying to hard to get rid of his accent. Mann still has it, as the film was just like Miami Vice with the nightime city shots and the panoramic views. One of the best flicks I have seen this year!

I remember watching this show when I was in the 7th grade. I had the tropical green suit with the thatched shoes and a few pink sport coats also.

Yes, we know you're a Bad Boys fan (and I can agree they're good, fun movies). Miami Vice is very good but different. You're a bit young to remember the original series....I've called Bad Boys I & II, the all black comedic version of Miami Vice for ages now. Miami Vice is much more serious than BB.
