Not really, he replied. The logos were merely an effort to get people to contact his company, at which point, the full situation would have been explained to them.

Michaelscomputers is utter bullsh!t. I've been following the computer industry for years, and the technical claims "Michael" makes on his website, particularly with respect to notebook computers, are completely outrageous and IMO impossible with today's components. As far as I'm concerned, "Michael" can vindicate himself only by sending some hardware to review sites for thorough examination. I'd sure like to see how he manages to put a 3.20 GHz Pentium 4C, 15.4" widescreen LCD, and Radeon 9600 video card into a 4.28 pound package. :|

Conclusion:

Buying a computer based on a low price or a fast benchmark is a risky adventure. While it took us several days to find Michael Gonzales, would the average person have the willingness or have the resources to do the same type of investigation? We were very fortunate to be in Southern California, but what about the consumer that lives across the country, or even across the world?

In today's world, anyone can make a Website with fantastic claims, but the checks and balances of traditional business are often missing. At least with traditional brick and mortar businesses you can see, feel and use the product before buying it, which can't be done most Internet businesses.

Is it possible that Michael's Computers sells a computer that can get 17000+ on 3DMark2003, and boot up in 7.7 seconds? Is it possible that they sell any computers at all? You have seen the evidence... We will let the facts speak for themselves.

Has anyone actually seen and used one of Michaels Computers? You'd think the WSJ would have the resources to order one and see if one actually arrived and was anything close to the advertised claims.

On his 15.1" Laptop, he advertises it as having the ATI M10P Pro 256 bit graphics 64mb. Searching for M10P on ATI's website brings up nothing, although searching for M10 does show up something saying that it's the code name of the Radeon 9600 Mobile.. seems fishy at best.
