LOL! What position do you propose we "shitcan" her from? Her marriage?

Besides, I see no reason to disbelieve her feelings on the matter. This isn't a Watergate or Benghazi hearing, she's just talking to the media about how she feels.

What are you talking about. He said people have been fired for less, illustrating the importance of what she said. Not that hard to comprehend.

You should have reason to disbelieve her feelings on the matter, she refutes her own feelings. Its on video. On David Letterman.

Ah, I see. You have no idea what you are talking about then.

She said the same story on Letterman a few months ago but said this:

"I reached up cause she was short"

But now recently she is spinning it to be about racism. That's the problem.

Lol I'm 6' flat so not tall but people do not ask me to pick shit up off the shelves for them. You guys are so full of shit, "everyday occurrence" my ass.

Happens to me so much that I don't even wait to be asked for help, I simply kindly say "Here ma'am, let me get that for you" or something to that effect. I think older people in particular have become jaded to common courtesies like this, years ago no one would think twice about helping someone like this. Sometimes the person I am helping seems surprised someone did. It feels good reminding these kind of people there are still people out there that aren't so absorbed in themselves.

But I have a kind face and strive to be approachable rather than always absorbed in myself like most of the world. My mother taught me about this, I used to help her shop when younger and tall and while getting something for her I would do the same for someone nearby who saw or I saw needed help.

The Obama administration and family could have done more to improve race relations in this country than any other administration, I will always be disappointed he didn't take advantage of this and move the discussion to the 21st century rather than sticking to the same old talking points.

It's my penance for height privilege.

Not "everyday occurrence" as in it happens to you everyday, rather it happens to someone everyday. And it's no big deal for someone to ask for another person's help. There are no master/slave undertones to asking.

More specifically, it happens in every store multiple times per day. In a place like a Super Walmart, I expect it happens dozens of times each day.

Ask any black man who has never robbed a cab and cannot get a cab in NY. I'm not saying that it is unfounded but that doesn't make it right either and I'm sure it is very frustrating to deal with on a daily basis. I have friends who have been pulled over for nothing more than DWB.

I'm just trying to figure out why there is so much rage here over this story. Bunch of white guys getting bent out of shape over something they've never experienced and trying to trivialize it makes no sense to me whatsoever.

#1. For years now cabbys in NYC will slam on the brakes for a black rider because if they pass them and are caught, they lose their cab license.

#2. For any race if you wear a dress shirt to any retail store and they think you work there. If you wear a tie they think you are management and responsible for every foul deed the company ever did to them.

Ok fair enough I have been asked it a few times. It may be a once in awhile thing. Maybe the woman wasn't being racist at all.

I don't think the First Lady lied when she said she thought she was experiencing racism. Her point, in general, that black people face racism daily is still valid.

If you don't think black people face racism in everyday life in the US I don't know what to tell you. Find a black friend and ask him I guess.

No, the woman was not being racist. She was merely asking someone to do her a favor. Michelle Obama decided to turn that situation into something it wasn't. She was race baiting. Nobody is claiming racism doesn't exist, but to try and make a situation into something it clearly wasn't is nothing short of pathetic.

You don't know the tone of voice she used or the expression on her face when she asked the question!

I can easily ask some black guy to do something in a blasé manner and with an expression of disgust. That's racist! You are making assumptions about what happened when you don't know.

Ok, what tone or facial expression implies racism?

When refused to help, the person raises volume - "When I tell you to fetch me some raisins, you fetch me those God-Damn Raisins! AND you ask me what else you can fetch in addition! You hearing me now?!!"

That implies racism.

People need to read the story. She blatantly lied. She said on Letterman that the woman asked because she was short. That is what she said, it came right out of her mouth. Then, a few months later, she used that same story as an example of racism. It goes to show that Michelle will apply whatever filter to her statements that are needed depending on the audience. Talking about racism? Then she gives the story a racist slant. Looking for comedy? Tell it as the lady being short. It is extremely disingenuous.

Ya think?!

...who the fuck asks random women to pick things up of shelves for them?
...
I am a Lebanese arab Christian, but I look 100% white...

So next time you're with your "white" Coworkers and you decide to show your shitty racist self, consider that any one of these coworkers might be an imposter!

People. Of course, you have finally admitted you knew the answer to your own dumb question all along while pretending that it doesn't happen normally to imply that it is abnormal and possibly racist (IOW, lying). Did they see through your magic stealth impostor shield to identify you as a minority?! OMG!

Don't you think if that was what was said to her, we would know about it?

I'll have to admit I actually could care about this subject.

Those of use making mountains out of this mole-hill are protesting her making a mountain out of a perceived mole-hill which wasn't actually even a mole-hill in the first place.

There. I said it.

This. Whatever happened to common decency, helping someone out just because it's the right thing to do? The devolution of this country is truly disturbing.

I can't wait till someday someone says to you "GET THE FUCK OFF ASSHOLE I CAN DO IT MYSELF DICKHEAD!!" when you try to help. Apparently you don't know how socially awkward Americans have become.
