What if the fear that somebody is out to paint you in a corner as a racist so you feel bad about yourself has already happened, that you already hate yourself and just don't know it. Do you know what projection as applied in psychology is? If you don't know that you hate yourself and you actually do, but unconsciously, you will experience paranoia, the feeling that the world is out to make you feel bad. You might even read this that way. With me so far? Are you starting to feel suspicious? Hehe. If you are anything like me, and I would bet on it, you will want to have a huge ego to protect yourself from those feelings, and use as much intelligence as you can, which in your case is quite a lot, to create rationalizations as to why this can't be so.

I've never seen anyone refuse to assist when asked. It's common courtesy to help the person asking -- who is shorter than you, older than you, or handicapped in some way (or maybe you're just standing in the best spot to reach for a particular thing).

If I ever wear a dress shirt at any store, people are a lot more likely to think I work there. I will often being wearing a dress shirt at stores because I often shop straight from work. I've been mistaken for staff at Target many times even though I wasn't wearing a red shirt which just goes to show you how stupid most people are because real target employees dress in a very particular way and it's not the way I usually dress.
