I always liked Michio Kaku as an entertainer. I wonder how he would stack up in a "Physics-Off" against Leonard Susskind or Brian Cox though.

A "Physics-Off" would make for a lot better television than most of the garbage on TV now. That's what I would call reality TV.

He's an incredibly gifted and intelligent man in his field, and I reckon could easily stand toe to toe with all other bright minds in the same field.

That's what's go great about him - his greatest focus at this point in his life is to bring science to the masses, and he does it by being one of the greatest "futurists" in the world of science. He proposes all kinds of great future-minded concepts, and then takes on the challenge of breaking down tough concepts and complex theories into easily understood bite-size pieces. People like him, doing that kind of work, and the rest of the country improving and encouraging scientific education, will do wonders for our future.

On the other hand you have people who think they don't have learn stuff like the names of crystals to be a good geologist.

Stuff like this is often used by very lazy people who think they are so smart they will solve the mysteries of the universe without any real training.

Not really a fan of a lot of these theoretical physics entertainers. They say shit that's totally out there and there is no way they or anyone else can prove it and they know that.

Michio is entertaining, undoubtedly, yet he otherwise sticks to logic, science and facts. His opinions are meant to encourage more questions, not answer the seemingly unanswerable.

For instance, this is his take on the most controversial scientific subject of the last several decades, anthropogenic global warming, without trying to be shocking or abrasive.

Not really a fan of a lot of these theoretical physics entertainers. They say shit that's totally out there and there is no way they or anyone else can prove it and they know that.

Much of the entertainment aspect is in the "What if?" focus.

A majority of the theoretical physicists who participate in these projects also have far more serious work in the theoretical physics department.

The entertainment aspect is mostly about 1) inspiring people to think differently and encourage some to pursue scientific education, and b) entertaining the trippers, stoners, and other types who are easily thrown into the aw-struck, mind-numb, "woaahhhh" state of mind.
