I noticed that the new gigabyte mobo's are supporting 1333FSB natively.
Does this include the gigabyte micro atx boards?
If not are there any micro atx boards that support 1333FSB.
I am wanting to throw together a small portable lan party box and need a good 1333FSB mobo.
But it has to be Micro ATX and have a FSB of "1333".
Yes I am hell bent on the 1333FSB cause I plan to upgrade in the next few months or so to a Q6750 and dont want to have any problems doing so.
If anyone can help me out please feel free to step in and throw out your 2 cents cause I am all for it.
Thanks in advance..

I haven't seen one that is advertised as such. But I think the FSB is something that can change with bios upgrades. Maybe I am wrong though. I think it depends on how powerful they made the power circuitry near the socket. There are probably ones that can be overclocked to 1333 but I haven't really been looking for reviews of the overclockability of micro atx

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to upgrade to quad core now? It does seem like you won't see a big performance edge in most modern applications. Perhaps that is not true if you are running a server, but it is a big price/performance jump isn't it?

Seems like the better mATX boards are maxing out at around 1280MHz FSB due to chipset limitations. The only hope in the near future is the new Abit Fatal1ty mATX board. It "sounds" great on paper, but nobody has tested one to see how high a FSB it can actually go. Abit markets it as an enthusiast/HTPC/gaming motherboard, with no mention of overclocking.

I dont know man I never really heard to much of faxconn I've been really really thinking about this one GIGABYTE GA-965GM-S2 LGA 775 Intel G965 Express Micro ATX.
But I'd hate to buy it then gigabyte upgrades to a new 1333FSB version.
Thats why I started thinking about that MSI one.

Wow nice save zap!! I almost clicked the check out button.
Well I am in a tossup now Either the faxconn or the gigabyte.
I am leaning more twards the GIGABYTE GA-965GM-S2 v.2 as it has solid copasitors.
Plus I have actually heard of the company gigabyte unlike the faxconn CO.
Let me know what you think cause I think I will hold off till someone lets me know that its a ok mobo.
I dont want to drop another 100 bucks on a peice of crap-olla and end up replacing it a week or 2 later.

Well, looking at various specs, the only non-server chipset that more or less "officially" supports 1333MHz FSB is the Nvidia nForce 680i.

Tech specs of all nForce 600 series

Tech specs of highest "number" Intel desktop chipsets

This doesn't mean a board or chipset can't be overclocked to 1333MHz FSB, but the fact remains that the only desktop chipset that "officially" supports 1333MHz FSB is the 680i. So, until some company makes a mATX board with a server/workstation chipset or the 680i chipset, no mATX board will "officially" support 1333MHz FSB.

Intel 5000 series server/workstation chipsets support 1333MHz FSB

That being said, doesn't mean that a non-official chipset can't overclock to that amount. Heck people are already running 2000MHz+ FSB on the better boards so 1333MHz FSB should be a piece of cake - if the chipset is good enough and the motherboard manufacturer designs the board for those speeds and gives the appropriate settings in BIOS.

Right now, the only socket LGA 775 mATX board that I know of with the best chance to be a decent overclocker is the announced Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD mATX board using the ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 chipset. That chipset officially only supports up to 1066MHz FSB. Abit has hinted that the board is overclocking capable. If it's anything like their socket AM2 NF-M2 nView board, then happy days are almost here. Almost, because the board isn't available for retail sales yet and to my knowledge there are no reviews of it. Indeed nobody outside Abit has actually seen one of them yet.

BTW, I have been waiting for good/overclockable mATX boards for years.
