This was in an email from them.

PRICES GOOD 09/21/12 - 09/23/12
$50 OFF ANY Z77 Motherboard with the purchase of a 3rd Gen Intel Core i3 3225K, Intel Core i5 3570K or Intel Core i7 3770K Processor

Note that the above is a direct copy/paste. The 3225 is not a K CPU, so don't everyone get all excited right away. It does, however, have HD 4000 graphics.

Great deal and I am also seeing the discount on their web store location.

I think the i3-3225 model should be i3-3225T and rated at 35W TDP.

i3-3225T + Asrock Z77 ITX = ~$224

I was thinking of putting together a mini ITX machine...so tempting...

It's not advertised, but you can get $ 50 discount with 2600K and 2700K as well. So, if you don't like the crappy thermal pad on IB, they are also options to consider.

Also, another not advertised, but you can also get $ 50 discount with Z68 mobo instead of Z77. Not many MC locations carry Z68, but if they do, they are cheaper than Z77, around $ 20-30 AR with bundle saving. So, that's also the option to consider.

It's a nice deal, but that ITX board is quite expensive, and since the 3225 isn't a K chip, it negates the deal. I built up a 2500k on the Asrock H77 ITX board and it's great. Consider getting that board as an alternative, as the H77 is $50 less than the z77. You can then pick up a 3225 for the regular price of $130, or even a 3450 for $150. Much better setup than a 3225+z77.

In fact, another unadvertised, but you can also get $ 50 discount with H77 mobo as well. My local MC has H77M-ITX in stock for $ 94.99.. With 3225, it comes out to $ 175 (+ tax) after bundle discount. Not bad.

Anyone else trying to decide if it's worth paying $60 more for the i5-3570K (vs the i3-3225)?

Totally depends on what you're using the system for. If it's going to be your main PC and you game or do something that's CPU intensive then yes, pay the additional $60. Web browsing and very light gaming, you can probably save your money.

Depends on your long term use of the comp.

I picked up an i7 2700k and UP4 TH; the 3770k did not seem worth the extra $60 for a modest improvement over the 2700k.

Not to mention that you will probably be able to clock it higher and not worry about ridiculous core temps.

Deal works on any Intel motherboard. I got an ITX H61N-USB3 (H61 Chipset) for $29 with my 3570k.

Couldn't have come at a more perfect time, since my old motherboard gave up on life. Now all I need is a decent PCI-E RAID controller since this board only has 2 SATA ports.

EDIT: Fixed Typo. I listed the wrong processor.

Doesn't exist. i3-3220T or i3-3225. No i3-3225T and no i3-3225K.

Not 2500K? Those are $159.99 now.

Nice and nice! This thread is really delivering. I checked with a $49.99 ASRock H61M-HVS motherboard and it totaled $130 (apparently they won't allow "free" items in shopping cart, so always adds 1¢) for the Core i3-3225 CPU plus the motherboard.

Too bad that Gigabyte board only has two SATA. Why, Gigabyte, why? AFAIK the chipset supports 4x SATA.

I see that the Westmont store ran out of the ASRock Z77E-ITX board.

Maybe I'll side-grade my HTPC with a Core i3-3225 and Z77 mATX motherboard? Those boards start at $99.99, making it a $50 mobo.

For something even cheaper, how about a Gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2 mATX H61 motherboard? It has a $15 rebate!!! Though, not sure if you can actually get $15 back, since on the receipt the board will show up at $5, and most rebates won't give you back more than what it cost you. But, if it worked... get that motherboard plus the i3-3225 for $120!

EDIT: fine text in rebate doesn't seem to have any such limitation.

Excellent CPU for hackintosh and some of the mobos at MC are hackintosh compatible!

Yup, get the Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H for perfect compatibility and the best balance of features and price. Their RE4 drives were cheap too last time I was there.

Nada Believe me, I tried. 2500K + Biostar TZ77XE4 for $159.99 + $139.99 - $15 rebate - $15 manager discount - $50 combo discount =

By any chance does the H61 support OCing using turbo multipliers? Tempting to upgrade my 3.8GHz E5200 Hackintosh.

What does one suggest the combo I should go with? I will be using pc for gaming, video editing and hd streaming. I already have the video card picked out, I am just having a hard time picking a motherboard since I am fairly new at this. I was thinking of going with :

Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 + ASrock z77 Pro3.

Only problem is I've read iffy reviews on that mobo and I know thats going to be true for almost any but just wanted to get more feedback

Splurge a little and get at least the Pro4, better yet the Extreme4.
Also look out for open box boards - usually nothing's missing, it'll work just fine and you'll get it for $20+ cheaper.

Is the H61 compatible with IVB?

ETA: I tried this with the same mobo and the discount isn't showing in my cart. Might be YMMV.

Yep, my 3570k is up and running perfectly. Going to be a huge waste since I plan on underclocking the hell out of it - I don't really need the power.

Yeah, I am on the fence about a Haswell upgrade next year so I upped to i7 and a board that has Thunderbolt, SATA 3 and USB 3.0.

It is a side-grade, but I think I am waiting until the chip after Haswell.

Probably because I made a mistake when I listed the processor I bought. I got a 3750k.
