I've been back lurking for a few weeks after a long absence, I'm a little annoyed with microcenter since the drive is advertised on their website as having "Smart-Burn technology" but the drive I received wasn't a Lite-On. It took almost a week for them to respond to my email:
I do apologize to you for the misadvertisement on the web. Recently, the
same concern was brought to our attention by another customer. We checked
with Buslink to find that the model number is the same for drives using the
Smartburn and Justlink technologies. The only way to externally tell which
are received is that the Smartburn drives have a sticker on the outside of
the box. I checked with all of our fulfillment centers and none of them
have the sticker. We have since changed the website.
Buslink verified that the rebate applies to both technologies. They only
look at the requirements mentioned on the coupon.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and the misinformation.

I just checked the website and don't see any change, the drive is still listed with "Smart-Burn technology". Oh well $49.99 - $30 MIR will still be a hot deal if the rebate comes thru.
