Prices cuts on AMD cpus + a larger $50 mobo bundle discount add up to some nice deals @ Microcenter B&M. Can order online for in-store pickup. Don't always have to use a "combo" board or cpu to get the combo discount, so poke around. Rebates on a couple of motherboards can make the bundles better than the advertised price.
[Edit 11/23] Appended rebate amounts to "(AR)" listings, ("AR" After Rebate). Added a cheaper FX 8320 combo.

I've been waiting on this drop. Looking at a 6300 for a bit lower power, but haven't decided on which motherboard to use.

This is mostly gaming system for my son, LOL, EVE, WOW, and Assassins Creed. Already have a SSD, case, GT750 Ti, PS etc. so may pick up MB/cpu and memory today and build it.

Suggestions on which MB to use?

Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3. USB3 ports & header, VRAM heatsinks, 4 memory slots.
ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 Socket AM3+ AMD mATX. USB3, 4 memory slots.
$55 -$50 bundle -$10 rebate= better than free & either one should get most of what the FX 6300 can do.

Getting close to the G3258+ PCMate Z97 price, 100 +tax -10 rebate. G3258 oc'd = AMD FX 4130 oc'd. So the FX6300 would be weaker than Intel in single/dual thread apps, but strong enough, and ~50% stronger as an all-around cpu (& more ready for multicore game demands).

Wow that A6 6400K combo would be perfect if I was close to a Microcenter - crazy good deal AR. GL to all those who are close and can capitalize on that.

I noticed the price difference when it was first posted, and assumed there was a rebate I wasn't seeing for the difference. Microcenter has a goofy web site when it comes to showing bundle items pricing. Prices only show in cart etc.

Nvm might as well advertise B&M only because you still have to be near one to pick it up.. damn.

That 8320 looked like a nice deal until I compared it to my current X4 965 BE @ 3.7ghz. Unfortunately, it only gains me 4fps @ 1920x1200 (35fps vs 31fps) in Company of Heroes 2, so it looks like it is not as much of an upgrade as I had hoped for.

I can OC the 8320 more than the 965, but it doesn't look like it will be enough to justify $140 out of pocket.

Eventually an 8 processor cpu will have benefits, but same here doing fine with a 4 core and getting son a 6 core, which is a big step for his AII system.

Do you have an AM3+ black socket board already? If yes, then this isn't such an expensive upgrade, but the key is having a compatible board.
Buy a combo with a cheap board like the m5a78l-m/usb3. That combo is $125 roughly, and that's with tax. There is a $10 rebate. Sell the board unused, and sell your 965. You should get at least $30 for the board, the $10 rebate, and at least $50 for your 965. So $125 - (30+10+50) = $35

I just got the FX-6300 with M5A97 R2.0 Socket AM3+ ATX

I can't figure out if I should dump my 965 on ebay, or if I should sell the FX-6300

Already thought out that upgrade plan. Since it's on my workbench rig that I use sparingly (AM3, not AM3+), I decided to hold out until next summer and upgrade my main box to a 4770k and an X97 combo and move my current main rig's Z68/2500k combo to that workbench rig. It just makes more sense to upgrade the main gamer than it does that AMD rig.

Even the X6 1055t or 1100t, which would be a cheaper drop-in upgrade, is hard to justify at around $110 used for that workbench rig.
