They've already sent out emails with the pricing. $189 3570k (with $50 Z77 discount) and $289 3770k. A whopping $10 more than equivalent SB cpu's.

I got my 3770k for $289 plus tax, $307.39 out the door. Walked in to Microcenter in Rockville MD and there were mad people in there buying them.

$290 does seem enticing.

Let's see: $25 gas (120mi round trip), $21 in sales tax and three hours out of my life dealing with Orange County (CA) traffic just to save 15 measly dollars over Amazon.

No thanks... I can hold out for Haswell or Haswell-E (hopefully they iron out the thermals on the 22nm process by then).

I'm in SD area too (la jolla) so I made the same calculation but for me 150mile round trip... And no time really to do all that driving.

I ended up getting a 3770K from Tiger Direct actually, $320, $330 shipped 2-day

This would be vs. MC's $310 (with tax) and 20$ of gas for $330 also... Was fine with me cuz I'm waiting on the rest of the stuff from Newegg

Not a bad deal. I really hope they don't come down to SD county, makes it a bit easier to resist the dreaded upgrade bug. Tiger is out of stock, phew! Trying my best to hold out another year, maybe two before upgrading. :whiste:

This is the same situation I was in. I live like an hour from one, maybe farther, so I just pulled the trigger and ordered it off the internet.

why is ivy at microcenter 60$ cheaper than newegg?

Because Newegg is pricegrouging.

If you remove VAT etc. Then I think Newegg right now might be one of the most expensive in the world on these CPUs right now.

Apparently the 3570k is $190 at MC, with the $50 MB discount. I'm thinking I'll return my 2600k that I bought at $200 the other week.

If you still have the 2600K Ill take it off your hands for the 200 with the receipt.

I cant pm you since Im new. LMK thanks

It directly relates to why this is only available "in store". They are willing to make little profit, no profit or take a loss... to get people into the store. Why? They hope that since you're there.. you will impulse buy other things.

In my case the only MC near here is in Atlanta. Which is almost 150 miles of I-85 each way. It would likely cost me more to go to MC and buy the chip (add in sales tax.. and the 5 to 6 hours of time just for the drive). Then the Newegg price suddenly isn't that bad...

Most if not all companies follow MAP (Minimum advertised price) that is set public available to public set by the manufacturer... but Microstore prices are instore or e-mailed to members...

I was on a family visit to the St. Louis area last week and went to Micro center to buy parts for an IB build. I was there on release day and got a 3570k and a Gigabyte Z77-UD5H mobo. The build it yourself area was dead and the salespeople were saying that the responce to IB was underwhelming so far. I also bought ram, case, cooler, Win7 oem and optical drive. I compared the price I paid in store and it was quite a bit cheaper than Newegg price would have been.(Newegg charges sales tax in Tennessee where I live) I went back over a couple of days later and they let me swap the 3570K for a 3770K and keep the bundle price for the mobo-great customer service.

I just got back from a trip to the nearest Microcenter, which so happens to be about 100 minutes one way. I had nothing else to do this afternoon, so I took off this morning and picked up a 3570k and the Gigabyte UD5H. The prices were too good, not worth ordering online. Let's just hope I don't have to return anything.

I was able to grab the UD5H for $139.99, since that's the price they had online. $149.99 would have been the normal with the $50 combo discount as that is how it rung up, but they matched the website price with no fuss.

Overall, $330 at Microcenter plus tax, plus about $25 in gas....about $375 total. Compared to Newegg, it would've been $440. Worth the savings.

maybe Ivy isn't selling as well because of its less than stellar overclocking potential, combined with the fact that Sandy is still very much well in stock

For a chip that is mostly a die-shrunk (outside of IGP) Sandy it should be cheaper, instead its more expensive

I'd wager price will fall unlike Sandy keeping its value

Considering most SB users will have no serious need to upgrade to IB I can see why IB wouldn't be as big a seller as SB has been.

Anything comparable to a 199 2600k deal? like a 3770k at 225? just kidding

I am still trying to figure out why they did that deal. Did they have that many of them sitting in inventory? I would imagine they would have sold a boatload of them even at $240 or $220 but they jammed a deal so good out there that I am still scratching my head trying to figure out the reasoning for it. Considering how quickly the price went back up to $260 I am thinking they moved a ton of those chips in just a couple days.

Do you think its worth it for me to take public transport to my nearest MicroCenter?

For me I would have to take the 7 to Grand Central, and then take the Metro-North to Yonkers/Fleetwood Station.

According to google, it should take me about 2 hours (4hrs to and back). With their Ivybridge and Mobo deal, I could potentially save upwards to 100 USD (minus Metro North Ticket costs). The only concern is the time consumed and the ease of returns if product is DOA as I'll to make another round trip.
