Anyone have a review link for this? Is this equivalent to the Intel SSDs?

It's a full 8-channel Indilinx drive. Any review of the Vertex is pertinent to this drive. It's only ~10% slower than the 120gb model.

I'm not sure which Intel SSD you're trying to compare this to. If you're comparing it to the 40gb Intel drive, then this Vertex is all around faster.

ugh trying to decide if 30gb is enough for a boot drive.

Hold out for a bigger drive. Even with only an OS and a few apps as boot, 30GB is too small for anyone that uses their pc regularly and will most likely cause an upgrade itch.

My current OS partition is only 35 gigs, with 24 gigs used. I can probably move some non-essential apps to another drive to keep things tidy. I think I'll bite on this.

30 GB can be more than enough for a boot drive. It certainly was for me until the Mac version of Steam came out...

Depends on the number and type of applications you load. I've got the OCZ 60GB, with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, Microsoft Office 2010 Pro, and a few apps, I've more than half way filled up the SDD. All data, photos, etc., are stored on a separate drive. I'd say wait for at least a 60GB SDD

At this price put two in RAID0 for 60gb of storage with very impressive speeds for just a few dollars more than the 40gb Intel SSD... Rebate limit is 1, so just use your home and work addresses.

They might nail you for having the same name though.

If you did raid 0 wouldn't you still only have 30GB of storage space? Or am I dumb?

To my understanding, RAID 0 splits the data equally between the two drives, using both of their full capacities.

I believe you're thinking of RAID 1, which has one hd mirror the other (hence, only really having 30 GB of free storage).

I believe it's something like there's 10 pieces to a file and 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 goes to drive 1 and 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 goes to drive 2. Probably more complex than that, but it splits the file into both drive.

Definitely enough if you only install what you need and trim down windows, actually this is good practice anyway and your system will be even faster for not having to load all the bloat.

Mine arrived today. Can't wait to put it in my HP Mini 311 (11.6 w/ ion).

I'm running windows 7 (32bit), do i need to go through all the "initiations" for this drive or can i just "plug and play"?

Thanks
