what the heck would a person do with 54 towels
Yea, they might pass their expiration date before you get a chance to use them ;-)
Towels have an expiration date? What's so special about microfiber, are they like those yellow shanny ones sold at flea markets.
Microfiber towels are made out of exploded polysomething, basically they are soft so they don't scratch, and they hold HUGE amounts of water and dirt. There are many different weaves , thicknesses, etc.
Flea market towels "could" be microfiber, and you need to be careful to get the non scratching ones with the right fabric content, 80/20 I think is good, 85/15 bad. Some will be some kind of artificial sponge, some like flannel pajamas.
Expiration date is a joke.
I don't know what issue people have with washing, care that needs to be taken is in DRYING them. If you toss microfiber in with cotton towels the microfibers are dry much sooner and can ge damaged by the heat.
I use the $10 pack of 25 from walmart as well as the bigger packs from Costco, and haven't thrown any away yet. I suspect the higher usage is a "detailer" thing, and never use more than half a dozen on any of my cars.
