As mentioned before the curvature of the screen is slight. Just to reiterate the monitor can display resolution at 1600 x 1200 @85mhz comfortably and free from distortion but lacks some sharpness. I leaped from a 17' to 21', unprepared for the ungodly amount of picture, and my eyes might still be adjusting to the new 'window'. It's akin to sitting in the first few rows at the movies-- basically takes some getting used to.

In my opinion, the finest resoltuion setting is 1200 x 1024 @85 mhz. I must say this is a fantastic large screen CRT monitor in terms of image quality with freash features that really make you think twice about writing off this CRT monitor as old technology. A bargain in every sense of the word.
I would like to hear more fellow owners sound off on there impressions. Cheers

I just bought a sony 21 inch CDP-G500.... and I love the flatness =)
But the micron started growing on me after a day I didn't notice the curvature that much but I got an awesome deal on this monitor.
I thought the colors were kinda bland on the micron.... but the sony colors seem about the same.. maybe it's just my pf790 has really vibrant colors or my voodoo3 2000.... *boggle*

Well I raised a stink at Micron corporate and they got to the bottom of it pretty quickly. They have issued a memo to honor a 15day return on the monitor if you are not happy with it. They have also confirmned through their buyers that it indeed has a 1 year manufacturer's warranty and it is through samsung. I got this through david barns the manager of e-additions. I guess this makes up for the LIES that a steaming pile of fecees named MARTY TEATER (who claims to be the sales manager at e-additions) has told me. If you all recall he is the person that on Fri told me 30 day return and 1 year manufacturers warranty. Then on Tues said NO return and NO 1 year manufacturer's warranty and only a 30 day warranty IF it is defective. Of course when confronted about what he said on fri he gave the "I said no such thing" line. I asked David Barns to review their recorded phone conversations. I asked him that if it does indeed show that MARTY TEATER is a lying sack of fecees if he could take appropriate action and he said he would. We'll see what he does.

After 2 delays (unexpectadly left at 2 distribution centers) my monitor should arrive today. I'll give my 2 cents on what I think of the monitor. Although since I'm going from a 17" .28 pitch monitor to this one, I imagine I'll be easy to impress.

Here's hoping I can get that $400 in time before they sell out.. a lot of people are jumping on this deal real fast.. if I don't get the money in time there's always some nice 20" Trinitrons at Second Wind PC's and since they are Flat Screens I'm sure they'll look nice.. btw they are used ones but for the same price as the 21" Micron you can get one of these Trinitron's with a year parts and labor at Radio Shack.. seems a safer alternative to these closeout monitors in my opinion but new is new..

Wow, 20" trinitrons with service... sounds like a pretty good deal, perhaps you should start a new thread. Damn, if I needed monitors right now, I'd be jumping in on that...

I thought I'd check on my order of 2 of these made last Saturday. The sales rep told me they shipped on Monday - he couldn't provide me with a UPS tracking #. He also informed me that there is a 30 day defective exchange policy (they'll swap you for a new one). He also told me that there is no manufacturer's warranty on this. I told him that when I ordered this on Saturday, I was told there was a one year warranty. He told me sorry there was nothing he could do. I didn't get his name. Should I call back and threaten to not accept the UPS shipment ?

EIA430, could you give me the phone # of David Barns at Micron. I'd like to get to the bottom of this warranty thing today because the monitors will probably arrive late this afternoon.

J24U,

David Barns is at 208-893-7613. I don't think there is a reason to call him, I'm confident that I was finaly told the truth. But if you feel the need, have at it bud.

If they are in Indiana and my 2 were shipped Monday, why didn't I get mine in Ohio yet ? Someone make a wrong turn at Toledo ? eia430 I won't be calling - take your word for it. I still don't understand why they couldn't give me tracking #'s.

I just got the monitor today, I love it. I had no idea what kind of a c-r-a-p monitor I had (17" noteworthy toshiba .28) Colors are soooo much better much more saturation not all washed out like the old monitor. I'm seeing details I've never seen before. There are no moire artifacts at any resolution. 1600x1200@85hz looks great. I have to say that I'm very very happy with this monitor.

The issue with warranty... There was no paperwork that came with it so I called David Barnes again. He said that it indeed has support via their contract with samsung and that it is handled through micron. I asked for paperwork on it, details etc. He said that he had no paperwork on it but he did put on my customer file at micron to honor a 1 year warranty from time of purchase. This sounds a little shakey to me but I'll take his word for it. I've printed the e-mail correspondence from him to me saying that there is a 1 year warranty. If push comes to shove I'll use that to back me up. I'm not sure about micron... they are acting like a bunch of shady people. But I'm just tickled pink on the monitor itself... love it.

I got 2 of these yesterday, they are awesome. IMHO they are flatter than most regular moniters, running at 16x12x85 no problem.

I ordered on thursday and they said that they have around 4000 still
left. The reason, they told, they are selling them at reduced prices is that they had no place left in the warehouse. But they are selling like hot cakes.
Hope it helps. Better give them a call and find the latest. The number is 1-800-563-7973

The 955df is an awesome 19inch flat screen monitor. While this monitor is not flat, it's 21inches and it's not flat, but people have stated the curvature is hard to notice. So if having a flat screen is more important, grab the 955df. That monitor kicks butt!!! But if size is more important grab this sucker.

Damn for the price though, and 4000 left, I'm thinking about picking two of these up for my siblings and selling their 19inch monitors. HMMMM....

According to the Micron 2100Ex manual it's 19.8"x19.0"x19.9" (WxDxH), though I thought I read the specs somewhere else that says it's slightly bigger (or maybe it's the specs for the Samsung). The neck protrusion on the back isn't as big as my ADI 6G though. What's weird is the manual also says the max resolution is 1800x1440!? Not a big concern since I just use it at 16x12@85.

I wasn't home when the UPS guy came with the monitor, so instead of returning later he dropped it off in the patio in my backyard. The box was torn and dinged up, I hope it hasn't been TOO jostled and bumped during delivery. Worse, one of the finger holes on the sides of the box were torn, and I didn't realize it 'till it started to tear further and slip when I tried to lift it. Dropped the box on its side from about 8-12" on hard floor, ouch!! Luckily no crunching sound or anything, just a dull thud from the styrofoam impact.

Anyways, just purchased and downloaded DisplayMate to test/calibrate the new monitor (as well as my old monitors)...

Dealheads.

I could no longer stand it so I nailed one.

with $30 shipping to California and sales tax it was $407. The guy said it was brand new and had a 15/30 day warranty and that's it.

Wish these guys would get their stories straight about the warranty. It is going to come back to bite them. Micron ain't a small company, that's the only reason I went for the deal.

I was perfectly happy with my Gem 19 25dpi monitor, or so I thought.

I rue the day I found this forum

Great Deal !

Wondering, Samsung specs show BNC connectors, does the Micron have them?

Thanks,
Raycer
