The only comment they have on reselleratings:

<< Company advertised micron PC-133 128MB memory on www.pricewatch.com. Company sent generic industrial grade PC-133 memory. Because of their false advertisement, I will not buy from them again. >>

WHile running the risk of sounding stupid, what, I ask, is the difference between cas2 and cas3? I would guess speed, but could you elaborate a bit for the dumb guy? I have 192 megs of some old PC100 ram and put this in my old system and gank some 133, but this cas2 jargon is throwing me

If anyone gets there ram can you please confirm if they are actually sending the advertised name brand RAM, or generic.

Because 128mb pc133 Micron Ram for 87$ shipped seems unreal. And can anyone verify if its cas2 or 3

Cas2 gives you more bandwidth than Cas3 even though it's the same stick.
Some rams rated at Cas3 can sometimes runs at Cas2 thou.

anyone cares to make a clear statement on this issue?

The amount of time required to complete one operation before another can begin is called the 'latency' period. Though it is probably most often seen in the term CAS Latency, there are also other situations where the term is used. Keep in mind that latency is a general term that indicates the required delay before an action can begin, rather than the description of a specific operation

I use Micron 128MB PC133 SDRAM on cas2 on an MSI K7T Pro (with latest BIOS v1.6) and it's very stable, performs well. Didn't pay the above prices though....

I wonder if the memory is just Micron (or whatever mfr. specified) chips on third party boards or is both the board and chips made and assembled by Micron?

CAS = column address strobe...the 2 or 3 is the number of clock cycles it requires the computer to 'setup' a read or write of main memory. CAS 3 requires 3 clock periods, cas 2...you guessed it, 2 clock periods. I believe with all other things being equal that cas 2 is 5-10% faster (please correct me if I'm wrong)depending on how the memory is being referenced (software dependant) and the memory bus clock speed.

For some this may be a good deal, but this memory is pc133 cas 3. I had bought two dimms from them, and plan on returning them. When I purchased them, I was told they were Micron pc133 cas2, and they were not. But for those who are looking for some good cheap ram, they are micron, but I could not get them to run at 133 front side bus, and they would not even boot at cas 2. This may just be a fluke though, because micron is normaly better than that. Its your choice though, but I would buy else where.

I order some of this ram and emailed Micron to find out the scoop.... here is what they said

<< CAS2 modules have @ 0.5% performance increase over CAS3 modules. You will probably not notice any performance increase in your system. >>

I have no idea about that statement but, from my own experience.................Cas2 definitely works better than Cas3 noticeably. Especial when you overclock your cpu. Of course, you won't see much of a differences at a default FSB set from the manufacturer.
Above that point (maybe 133mhz FSB)............Cas Latency seems to be involve much on performance gain.
