Microphone keeps getting corrupted.

This is getting really annoying. Basically what happens is randomly I open a game, or some program that puts load on the CPU, my microphone input gets completely jacked.

It sounds like there is massive static in it or choppiness. People will either call me fanman or robotman. It's just really terrible. This doesn't happen everytime, it only happens sometimes. Sometimes one restart will do it, sometimes multiple restarts are needed. I can not recall ever having this problem with Windows XP, only with Vista 64. This does not happen just online either, I used a recorder for windows and played it back with the same result. Once I tested it and the mic playback was perfect then I opened up Ventrilo and boom, super staticy voice. Ventrilo is not even a program that takes up that much CPU, perhaps it is any program that tries to access the sound hardware? I don't know.

Any help on this? This is really annoying. I am using an Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.

Unfortunately Vista is horrible for sound. Software only unless you use aLchemy from Creatives site. From what I understand those drivers work well. There is a guy on their forums named "daniel k" who made specific drivers to get some of the functionality back. You can try those. IMO this is a driver/software issue, not hardware.

I also had problems with my Audigy 2 ZS running WindowsXP and Teamspeak. Try switching to the onboard Realtek High definition drivers and try it out.

I agree the realtek hd drivers work better. Also with the realtek you do need to adjust the sound input via their realtek hd audio manager. For me if I had any of these options check I ended up with static and choppy sound....do not check/use these: Noise Supression, Acoustic Echo Cancellation or Beam Forming...like I said they gave me nothing but trouble for days. Also go out to Gigabyte and download the latest sound drivers too.
