I have been seeing more and more threads dealing with these products and it is apparent that everyone will soon be slashing prices to get rid of inventory (if not already) because MS is exiting this industry.
I have edited my original post (Originally discussed only the USB adaptor), to show the best prices on MS 802.11g network hardware (and now some 802.11b deals as well). If you see a deal, post it and I?ll update this post.

If you buy more than one (which I imagine most people would order more than one for a wireless "network") the shipping is less per item, making it a better deal.

Still 5 bucks shipping for one isn't that shabby (previous best deal was the 30 dollar costco deal).

Just a quick post before I head to bed. I edited the original post to show some deals on a MS wireless-g router in case someone is looking to start a wireless network. Or they could upgrade their exisiting B network to G since I assume most people would be able to do it for less than $100 (Router and 3 USB G-adaptors)

Ugh, I need to go to bed.

I've edited the original post yet again. I'm now trying to make a place where people can find the best prices on MS networking since they are exiting this market and I'm sure more and more deals are going to spring up.

(I'm seeing multiple threads discussing MS networking products and figured we could use one place to discuss all the deals)

You are right. I've updated the post linking to that thread.

Just got my e-mail cancelling my order since it was not in stock.

This is the second time this happened to me this month.

I hate it when they dont have real time inventory. Is this a bait and switch trick?

I ordered MICROSOFT BC5-00001 54Mbp

Please note that the item(s) listed below have been removed from
your order per your request to Customer Service or because the
item is no longer available from the manufacturer.

Dang it (received same email as AnMig). I ordered a few of those to setup a wireless network... Oh well, guess I'll stay wired for a while longer.

These are pretty good prices for the G router...the only thing that worries me is do these routers do everything perfectly now that you'd ever want them to do? What I'm getting at is with MS getting out of the wireless hardware market, will they ever be putting out any firmware updates - or will you be stuck with the equipment as-is?

Can I buy the laptop adapter now (it's $40) and then wait for the weekend to do the price guarantee? There's only 1 left at my local CC and the person said all MS networking products went to clearance 2 weeks ago.

When did you place your order? I suspect my order will be canceled as well. I only placed my order couple of hours ago.

what I'm concerned about is 2 things (someone please answer as I was ignored in another post about this)

1) how good are the MS wifi products? I have the usb adapter and it works great! but what about the router?

2) MS no longer makes these products. What about driver support in the future? what happens when the next OS is on the rise? lets assume longhorn makes it into everyone's home. can i also assume since MS makes longhorn that they will also provide updates to their MS line (assuming it needs updating)?

Slim pickens on MS stuff now in my CC. I bought a MS notebook card G, returned it, it just quit after 4 days :-(

I know someone that has the 802.11b router. Hasn't had any problems with it.
It's up to you if you want to take the dive or not. Normally, once a product like a router works for me, I never really update the firmware etc.

I also figure the lack of future support will not matter as sometime in the future I'm sure we'll be seeing faster wireless speeds and many people will want to upgrade.

I also placed my order last night for a couple 802.11g USB adapters, and it was cancelled as well, bummer. Was worth a shot, but I am getting a bit agitated with Outpost because it does seem to be a pretty frequent occurence over there regarding cancellations and price corrections
