Can you use WPA on a WEP card or do you need the card to support WPA specifically also?

They no longer make wireless networking hardware but I think the article I read said they will continue to support drivers/software for another 2 years?

The card needs to support WPA in order to use that feature.

in two years i dont think these will be obsolete. broadband will offer gigabit to the curb but i dont see much improvement in wifi unless the fcc changes regulation.

I had to return a MS notebook G card that I bought on another closeout. It worked great for one week, then after hours and hours talking to MS support they admitted the product was a lemon

That said I am using a MS USB wireless connector

Keep in mind that in compliance with federal law Microsoft HAS to support these at least five years after they discontinued. It's so cheap that I really wish I could buy one. Alas, I have to save for an A64.

If I've got a 802.11B Netgear router, and I buy a 802.11g card would it still work? I know I wouldn't maximize the bandwidth on it, but would the card still work with the router?

It *should* work since G is backwards compatible.
Heh, I'm in the same boat as you...my Netgear B router has been really good about adding wireless cards, so this will be a test for it.

The price is back to 29.99$ for here. Boston, MA.

I just got the 11.99$ 802.11b version and was thinking of hoping to the store and returning and order the 802.11g.. but the price went back up...
