The DIY Kit contains:

* AMD Athlon II 620 X4 processor
* Asus 785 Graphics board

Yea, really surprised they don't have Raleigh on the list, they are almost always on this tour.

Also wish Denver was on the list.

I also don't see a "Ready To Launch" homepage anywhere, just searching on msevents.

I'm a TechNet Plus subscriber, and I didn't receive this notice either. I'm glad I saw it here. If the DIY kits are reasonably priced, I might finally have a good reason to upgrade my Athlon X2 box.

It also seems to me that the gear is toned down from previous events, would expect them to have a x4 940 or something similar, I think AMD is trying to gain the advantage at the $100 cpu price point, and so it makes sense to put this chip into a lot of hands to make an impact. Always the AMD fanboy myself the i7 920 is the first Intel cpu I have owned in at least 5 years.

Thanks, signed up for the Seattle event. It's on a Friday and since I have those off this seemed like it would work well. I'm also considering buying a quad core setup to replace my old opteron 165 as my HTPC and this kit would fit the bill, assuming it's cheap enough.

Is there a fee to register? It sounds interesting, although I'd have to wait to hear prices on the DIY kit...and if there is a registration fee that would affect my decision.

There was no fee for me to register.

I signed up for the DC event (Reston VA, actually). Coincidentally, I'm currently looking to put together a new system on a budget, and the DIY kit looks like it will be passable, while also allowing me to cancel my Windows 7 pre-order.

Me too. I usually hate these sort of things but I have been ignoring just about everything Windows 7 related so I'm curious what they will say about it.
