Weird software, it detects tons of things as spyware that aren't. Like this tftp server I run at work to update Cisco routers and things.

Watch it declare all non-M$ software "spyware". This is just another way for MS to keep its monopoly!

Slashdot says it's pretty powerful, even so much so as to be better than the lavasoft/spybot combo. Anyone have any comments on this?

It offers realtime protection and autoupdates, both of which you have to pay to get from lavasoft.

It will find searchsquire if you have spybot S&D installed. Searchsquire is an immunized restricted site. Add it to ignore.

Just ran a complete scan. Found 2 things it wanted to ignore anyways, and searchsquire. Everything else is clean.

Beyond the Standard Blubbering, and Mis-Information.

The program has nice clean easy interface with detailed explanations, which is a big help for None-Geeks.
I keep very clean system.

I first scanned with:

1. Ad-aware, it reported Nothing but few useless MRU keys.

2. SpyBot came Up with 10 legitimate complains.

3. Microsoft AntiSpy scanned faster than the two above and came up with 9 warnings.

When you point to a "Bad File" entry there is a nice window with good explanation about the nature of the troubled fie. It is a good feature that is missing from the other programs especially for people who can Not make decision about the "Junk" entries.

Link to: Screen Shot Explaining the nature of the Sucpicuis File.

The Scanned Hard Drive includes Windows XP with office XP installation as well as many other programs and files.

On a 2.4GHz computer with 1GB memory.

In Fast Scan Mode it took 3min. it scans the Memory, Registry, and the Files under the Program Files directory, and Windows directory.

Switching to Deep Scan Mode, which perform a more thorough scan resulted in 19Min. scan, and 33,000 files were scanned.

Try it really slick.

Interesting. I wonder if this will hook into Microsoft's management tools for corporate deployments and updates.

Will Microsoft be releasing this via Windows Update after the beta period is over?

1. Scanned with Spybot and Adaware (both uptodate) found nothing
2. Scanned with antispy, found nothing

3. I did not turn on real time protection or anything like that when i installed it but it still stuck something in my startup. It did not alter any of my search links or anything else, HJT came back just as clean as before i installed/ran it.

When you installed it the first time it puts an Auto Link in the startup even if you do not choose Live Protection while using the installation wizard.

If you do not want Live protection updates Tray Icon etc.

Start the program pull down Options /Setting click on each Icon and check or Uncheck what ever you like. It is very flexible and simple.

If the StartUp entry is still there remove it. It does not seem to return if the option is unchecked.

However it is a Beta1 version, some of the little details concerning the Interface are a little "Quirky".

This program would be a real savior for Non-Geeks.

Excellent, I've been waiting for this. I've installed it but have not had enough time with the software yet to make a decision.

I'll be back.

Seem good

Testing it out for the company..

i like how when performing a Scheduled scan u cant open the software, so no user can play around with it.

And you can block Windows Messenger software on users nice.

When all the logs and events are being tracked, is there a way to save them automatically to a folder on our network.

and also after the a scheduled scan, i opened the software and i needed to make the decision of what it should do, is there anyway of it doing it automatically.

Uh, what?

I find that most of the Spyware infections I clean off of machines at work daily come from people installing goofy adware-bundled freeware programs... such as AIM, Weatherbug, Webshots, etc.

Browser be damned.

Translation, I use firefox and don't get any spyware. Yea, I can obviously get it if I install crap software, but I stay away from that.
