I don't get it - MS's poor programming is the reason why over 75% of worms and virus' exist - to break through the internet using MS software.

I wonder if its also meant to detect pirated MS software.

Translation, I use firefox and don't get any spyware. Yea, I can obviously get it if I install crap software, but I stay away from that.

I use IE and I never get spyware either. You don't need to use a particular browser to avoid it, you need to not be a dumbass to avoid it.

I ran this on my brother's computer... it was not able to detect the about:blank hijacker, nor was it able to prevent it from changing every default page in IE. In Microsoft's defense though, Adaware, Spybot, and About:Blocker were all unable to get rid of it or stop it as well.

Ok, I've used this software for several hours now. I am actually pretty impressed with it. Things I like:

1. Uses no CPU while not scanning (realtime protection enabled)
2. Uses very little memory (less than 20MB) and I have all the options on.
3. Interface is very clean.
4. Intelligent scan was quick.

Things I don't like:

Today I had a customers computer that was checked in for spyware and viruses. I first scanned his system with Spy Sweeper 3.5 and it found 48 items (programs) and 999 total traces. I did not remove anything and immediately installed the new MS AntiSpyware. It only found 26 items so I removed everything that was detected. I ran Spysweeper again and it found 447 traces this time and 22 items with one of them being CoolWebSearch. So far I am not impressed with the new MS product.

Spy Sweeper 3.5 + Ad Aware 1.05 + Spybot 1.3 + HiJackThis 1.99 = the best combo IMHO

CWS variants are one of the toughest and most harmful spyware out there...I think you should add CWShredder to that list of apps for cleaning spyware.....

What a bunch of garbage. Well I can't say I wasn't warned....it being a beta and all.

I had one helluva time trying to get rid of this bug infested software.....even system restore failed to work.

I might try this again after several revisions at least.

For now I'll stick with Spybot and Adaware.

Spy Sweeper 3.5 detects and removes CWS.

I still use the old/new CWS, about buster, and a few other specialty apps when I encounter a machine that is tough to clean.
