They're definitely correct about the files containing that information, whether their interpretation is correct will be interesting to see.

Not like there's much MS could do though, I HIGHLY doubt they condone that sort of thing.

Yeah I saw this a little while ago too. Pretty funny.

Most likely what happened is it was some dude's job to do up some .wav files and he didn't want to have to wait for a legal purchase so he downloaded and cracked it.

it doesn't matter if it was done internally, outsourced, or whatever. The proof is pretty much infallable imo. One of the most commonly distributed piece of software worldwide, developed by the biggest backer of several anti-piracy organizations, just instantly made some random hacker crack infamous and a reference every IP lawyer will be sure to include in every case from here on. If MS isn't even immune to piracy in their own developement process, then what standard can you hold ...well...ANYone

microsoft is the biggest thief since robin hood, steal from the poor and makes them even richer!!!

Their Java sucks, their IE sucks even more. constant crash and their OS are basically trash. even a mac or appleIIe ran better then this~!

Do you expect MS to open up every outsourced wave file in note pad to check for warez? If anything, this just proves how ANAL some people are when it comes to going through MS's garbage. Why the hell would anyone open up a wave file to see who the registered user of the program was? :roll:

Yeah I know its not right bla bla, but if this was an outsourced job (most likely since they can buy a zillion copies of sound forge), then anyone who used their service has violated the same laws MS has.

You act like this doesn't matter. It doesn't matter to you or I, but it does matter in court. If a company which so vehemently opposes piracy has work created using pirated software, it weakens their defense. I don't really care if they did use warez or not, but the legal implications are huge. Read a post, understand what the post says, then reply.

Also, don't assume right off the bat that the job was outsourced.

And I think this is huge as well, their stance on piracy is well known, being caught with using warez really doesn't help their image.
