Microsoft extends Xbox 360 warranty

This is good news... 90 days was ridiculously short, especially for such an expensive console.

I'm still going to buy an extended warranty on mine, 'cause I'm waiting for my THIRD 360 to show up after the first two failed.

my friend's 360 broken right after 3 months.. i believe the problem was CPU overheated, the machine restarts itself after 5 min of play.

Now if I I could just post my unopened ps3 for sale at cost heh. I might just return it and pickup an xbox.

Yeah this dosent help me too much. I had to return my 360 earlier this year because it broke, and the replacement I got was manufactured in Jan 06. Sweet, I have less than a month left on my warranty.

Officially this is not a "deal". I hate people who flame posts, and I'm glad this was put here to let everyone know about it. PS3 and Wii have 1 year warranties, MS is now following suit. Awesome bonus for everyone, and I just got my 360

Rumor mill has that the XBOX 360 price may drop $100 lower than what it is today?
If it really does, the xbox will kill the PS3 and Wii out right.:thumbsup:
Any take on this or just another rumor?
Where near I live, MC offers $100 rebate on these but I do not like rebate & tax so I just wait it out until I can get it on-line.

Does this require owners to do anything or are they simply automatically extended? Reason I ask, I bought my 360 Nov 25 and was thinking of extending the warranty. If it's good for a year then I won't shell out the extra

THANK YOU! my 360 got the infamous freeze after the fall update. will, not boot. will not do anything. called TWICE and argued till the days end about why I shouldnt have to spend 129.99 to fix something that I paid 399.99 for AND DIDNT DO A SINGLE THING TO. The customer rep actually told me, "sir, normally when you buy anything that cost a good bit of money, you get the warranty." i asked her if this is what she wants "microsoft's" reputation to be like. Honest to god, it took her 10 seconds to respond. Point being, if you spend 400 dollars on something, it should work. I didnt do anything to my box at all. And was refused repair because my 3 month warranty was up. This is great, Im gonna call and ask for the same rep, Vergie ... was her name. Awesome.

There was also another store(Toys R Us I think) that was offering a $100 gift card if you bought a 360.

YEA! You have no idea how much this has made my day. I bought a 360 from Toys R Us a couple of days ago, with HUGE reservations because of all the problems I've read about. I was going back and fourth on whether or not I wanted to spring another $60 for the extended warranty - I'm very happy with a year though. Also, it was (and still is through the 24th I believe) Toys R Us who is offering a free $100 gift card if you buy an Xbox 360 premium (not core). Picked up Gears of War and still have about $40 left to spend!
