He got to the point in the install where it said "Press any key to continue" and has spent the last 3 hours looking for the any key.

If you guys are suggesting that the problem exists between chair and desktop, it's not.
Look on Zune community forums...a lot of people are having the same error.
The software will copy but then delete itself and thus not complete installation.
Gives me a pointless 0x80070643 error and a support link that's defunc.
And what's frustrating is that the support personnel keeps repeating the same thing as if he cant understand English.
Try turning off System Restore, install the Zune software, and then turn System Restore back on.Originally posted by: Parasitic

To turn off System Restore on Vista - Click the Windows button, then right click on Computer and click Properties. On the left column click Advanced Settings. Then click the System Protection tab. Uncheck everything there then click apply.
Besides the number, what does the actual error message say?Originally posted by: Parasitic

System restore was the first thing I turned off when I installed Vista.

Yes. I've gone through all the troubleshooting websites suggest and am on the phone with Zune TS for the past hour and half. God they can be so incompetent sometimes.
