I bought it at a yard sale for $2. I would prob enjoy it more if I had a joystick.

rebate coupon says "Only original coupons will be accepted" so unless there is one on the box you might not qualify for it.

My buddy flys it cross country in real time and walks away. checks on it about every 30 minutes.

Yeah, it seems that when it comes to flight simulators, you either love them or hate them. I personally love Flight Simulators.

Please do note that this the 2002 version of MS's Flight Simulator. The newest version is Flight Simulator 2004.

Why is this version 2002, the very best in some people's opinion? why not 2004? Shouldn't newer version improve on the older version? better graphics, better physics, etc.

FS 2004 has only some improvements, basically weather and ATC.
It's better, sure, but many people think FS2002 is almost as good. And the price is an argument too, pay $20 or earn $3? You decide

Good point. FS2004 only has a couple of new features. Of course, for me they are more than worth all the extra money (I own FS95,98,2000,2002 and 2004)

Amazon had FS2004 on sale for 29.00 a few Fridays ago... with the $20MIR and the $10 upgrade rebate, it ended up being free. Hopefully a bunch of us got in on that deal !

I had Microsoft Flight Simulator 1.0 when it first came out. CGA graphics, jerky framerate, PC speaker sound...all running on a 286 8MHz with an unheard of 3MB of RAM (yeah I had the kickass gaming rig back then!)

Haven't played it since then

Oh yeah? I had a flight simulator on my old TRS-80 model I (with expansion interface and four, count em' FOUR external 5-1/2 inch floppy drives - of course one was the dedicated MSDOS floppy). Yes, a flight simulator for a screen with 127x47 mono pixels. The screen refresh rate was about once per second. You could make out the runway and buildings, but you had to kind of squint and use your imagination quite a bit.
