Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 or Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical?

I've looked at both of these and am sort of undecided. I would use it for first person shooters, image editing, and other general functions, I think those are the main functions where I would notice a difference. I usually set the mouse sensitivity relatively low, a little less than 1/3 of the way full in half-life for example. I'm just curious to hear what everyone here has to say about these.

Thanks for your help.

I have the intellimoose 3.0 version, and I too don't like high sensitivity, and I do like the response and accuracy, but I fear that my opinion is a tad bit biased, since I haven't seen the logitech one at all.

It is the "flick motion," for example when your turn 180 degrees in a game like cs, that I am most worried about. If you can do that easily w/ the explorer 3, without it skipping, then I may just get that.

Both mice are about equal in picking up fast movements on normal surfaces. The logitech is supposed to be better on harder to pick up surfaces.

I ordered the logitech yesterday, to replace my Intellimouse Optical. I'll let you know how it is when I get it.

I hate the way logitech mice feel in my hand. They just don't (%$*& fit. MS has a great warranty if you should ever need it.

I have a Logitech Mouseman iFeel optical. I love it. (It's not the dual optical - I got it last March.)

I have the original MS Intellieye Explorer and it's the best mouse I've ever used. And as a hardcore FPS player I can say that I've never had any sensitivity issues. I like the high sensitivity and the high tracking accuracy.

Intelli Exporer 1.0 and 2.0 were useless for FPS games. I haven't tried 3.0 though I don't think I want to. Haven't tried the logitech one either, it could be just as bad.

Another Hardcore gamer here and my vote is Logitech all the way, never had lag on my Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel and the new dual version is a better mouse,Logitech are also known for better reliability then Microsoft mice.

Buy both and see for yourself, then return the one you don't like.

People's opinions on mice are subjective. You should decide for yourself which works for you.

As Mem said.. The Logitechs are the most reliable home/gaming mouse there is that I and many others at these formas have come across. I have numberous friends at school who have the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 and lower versions which came with their PCs at the time were dodgey.. I think out of the 6 people I know 4 were either slightly unhappy with it or just chucked it in the bin and got something else..

So to end the boring story of Logitech is the one to get I guess..

Albert.

Dual Optical... I don't like MS mice that much... Logitechs mice have always made me happy.. they're nice to use, and always work well! I have a Mouseman Optical right now at home, i love that thing!

I have the newer optical Logitech, red, and it does not skip. I am a flick player and it keeps up just fine. Thus coupled with Logitech's reliability, I have a 12 old logitech mouse that works fine, and dual led's I think the choice is obvious. Unless it does not fit you hand well. Later

Perfect discussion here, I'll chime in.

I've been using the Logitech Dual Optical for about a month now and I won't look back. I'm a very hardcore game player that plays without any mouse sensitivity and usually low sensitivity in games (especially CS). This dual optical hasn't let me down at all. I can do the infamous "flick" in the game and it won't budge at all. With previous optical mice, it would screw up all the time, but not anymore.

Also, I converted a friend of mine to it -- he hasn't gone back to his wheel mouse anymore.

I am biased, I'll admit it. I say get the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. I have owned all three versions of it and the difference from versions 1 and 2 to version 3.0 is, although cliche, night and day. The new version of the included Intellipoint software also allows you to set each button's functions for different programs. The mouse is very comfortable and works in Quake 2, Quake III, Half-Life, etc......... in a way NEVER thought possible with optical technology. I have a hard surface to track on my desk and that is why versions 1 and 2 of the mouse failed. Version 3.0 amazes me.

Now, after I tried to sell you the one that I own I have to admit that I've only heard positives about the dual optical mouse from Logitech. It's not been reviewed as better, but it's been mentioned to perform at the same level of version 3.0. Therefore, either one should perform great. Just stay away from the cordless ones

I have a MS IE 1.0 and it has always worked perfectly. I have never ever had any problems with it until recently it has started acting fruity, so I just ordered a 1.0 to replace it.

One important thing to consider is how the mouse feels. I used to have a Logitech non-Optical mouse (MouseMan or something like that) and while it was a nice mouse, it just felt all wrong in my hand. I had to grip the right side with my ring finger to pick it up, and that gave me a blister. I have fairly large hands, and when I bought the MS IE, it fit perfectly; so comfortable to use. I will never use another mouse again.

Have you considered the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical? It's the ambidextrous one...

Some people find that mouse a lot easier to use due to its button positions, but that's all personal preference, of course. Given the option between a more expensive Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 or the Intellimouse Optical, I'm inclined to go with the Optical. (I use one right now, actually)
