This is a nice mouse, it's what I use. I got it for about $40 though, so this is definitely a good deal. If you need a new mouse, get this one.

That's a good deal. This mouse is really sweet, got it when it first came out...would buy another one if needed.

Interesting - no "from" date restriction on the rebate form. I just happened to stumble across the receipt from my Optical Mouse the other day, purchased last November. Gonna give it a shot - thanks!

Gee, I think I saw the same mouse at Wal-Mart for about $23. A red tag clearance if I remember correctly. @ the Long Beach, CA store where the ole Treasury used to be.

i have this mouse. it is a great mouse. i like it over the explorer one becaues it is a little better shaped, and i like the feel of the butons over the explorer-i can click the optical faster. it works really well for games. i would recommend this mouse.

Does anyone know what the difference is between this mouse and the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer? I cannot find a difference other than mouse color.

The Logitech mouse is for you if you like smaller mice. Those with bigger hands will prefer the MS Intellimouse Explorer. Also I think the Logitech mouse only has 2 buttons as apposed to the Explorer which has 5. As for optical performance, there really isnt much difference. Both r fine on any hardwood surface. The Logitech is also a little bit cheaper. I own an Exlorer and wouldnt not have it any other way. I hope this helps.

I currently own two explorers, one optical and one wheelmouse optical mouse. All three are different. The explorer (the dark grey one) has a total of 5 buttons (r-click, l-click, wheel-click, and two extra programmable buttons where your thumbs rest). The thumb buttons are very conveniently placed making it great for games. The explorer is also modeled in a way that takes a little getting used to and I hear that people with small hands find it quite uncomfortable. The optical (the one Amazon.com is selling) also has 5 buttons except that the extra two buttons that were nicely located by the thumb in the explorer has been split to one on each side of the mouse which makes one of the buttons closest to your pinky a little out of the way and not as easy to get at (not good for gamers). The optical is also we suited for ambidextrous or left handed people I have heard no complaints on the feel of this mouse, it is quite comfortable. The optical wheelmouse LOOKS like the optical except that it has NO EXTRA BUTTONS! Just r-click, l-click, and wheel-click. The sides are colored grey like the optical but it's just for fashion. This mouse is also quite comfortable for any hands. I would say that the mice would go to these certain people:

Explorer Mouse - Gamer/Hardcore Gamer
Optical Mouse - Casual Gamer, Heavy Internet Use
Wheelmouse Optical Mouse - Business Use, Casual Internet

There's a mouse control panel where you setup the button functions.

You can get a logitech optical mouse for 19.99 at best buys or something...same performance, and it just looks cleaner than the grey microsoft ones...IMO
