Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro question

I just got one of the new internet keyboards by microsoft. It two ends, PS/2 and USB. I would like to just use the USB connection, but when I booted win2k, the ctrl-alt-del sequence (to login) wouldn't work. It's weird because in the bios i could use the keyboard with just the USB connection, so my initial guess that the USB connector was only for the USB hub built-in isn't right. For now I have both the PS/2 and USB connectors plugged in. Anyone know how to get the keyboard to work with just the USB connector, or do I have to use both?

I have this KB in Win2k.

Initially, you have to have the PS/2 end hooked up to login intially because Windows doesn't detect new USB devices until after login. But once you've gotten in and Win2k has detected it as a USB device, subsequent boots should be possible with only the USB plug attached.

Yeah, you should plug the keyboard in after you boot up.
By the way, the usb connection has any real advantage over ps2?

There should be a setting in your BIOS to enable "USB Keyboard Support". After that is enabled you can use the keyboard in DOS, windows safe mode, etc. when windows USB support is not available.

I just wanted to to have all USB connections. No real 'good' reason why I went away from the PS/2. In the BIOS should I have the USB keyboard set to 'BIOS' or 'OS'? I got the keyboard working with just the USB connection, but it comes up with a PC/AT PS/2 Keyboard (84-key). Right now I just have it disabled.

Yarr i thought I had to have both plugged in! lol I still have both plugged in, but its not hindering anything so i guess i'll just leave it like that, just so if my USB decides to poop on me I wont have to reach back there and plug that PS2 in

install it using the ps/2 then plug the USB in, it'll install the drivers, then restart your computer and unplug the ps/2, thats how i got it to use USB. To use the 2-port USB hub on the KB, the KB has to be plugged in with the USB connect.
