Damn it. So close to what I want. I'll put it on wait and see for now. That or I need to make a list of needed apps and make sure that they all have 64 bit versions. I think they would.

How is the Windows mobile MP3 player? Is there native Pandora? What about apps for running?

Sorry, when I said Win32, I meant any windows apps/programs that run on x86 instructions. I don't use the mobile mp3 player. There is native Pandora and Spotify. Microsoft Health is awesome. Runtastic and Track Runner are also there.

AT&T will be taking orders for the 950 online on the 17th and in stores on the 20th. Not sure of the turn around shipping times.

If these review well, a high end WP10 may be in my future.

I overall like the OS and WP has always had amazing cameras, it's just a shortage of apps. I do hope these take off a bit better, or devs at least use the tools to convert their apps to just have coverage.

I'll keep an Android tablet around so that money isn't lost, but I'd have no problems changing platforms.

And if Google doesn't release apps, I'll just port my information over and give them less information.

Sadly, Google apps and services are the VERY reason I am not sporting a Windows phone now. If Google relented on this I'd move in a heartbeat.

Is MS not taking direct orders for unlocked 950s? Don't really want to be stuck dealing with AT&T...

It would be nice to have some idea what those numbers are to gauge the real momentum of the phone. And I wonder how the 950 is doing?

Yeah, I'd like to know those numbers too. However if everybody that is still sporting the old 920/1020 put in an order. I could imagine that it would be at least 10k. They may not have made a lot initially incase it turns into another Surface RT fiasco.

ZuneHD did too. If you don't make many phones it's not really impressive that you sold out of them.

MS selling out of a device means nothing. It's all a marketing ploy. Just like the Surface Book sold out.

I'm also fairly deep into Google, but MS has released information porting apps to help minimize the ordeal of switching platforms. This would help take care of the important stuff like contacts and calendars.

Drive's mobile site is basically the app. Play Music requires an app, though. Maps on WP is pretty good with Here. I guess if you're a Youtube Red member, that wouldn't be great, either.

But for on-the-go stuff that I would actually need, I think WP10 would have me covered. For consumption and small-screen entertainment, maybe less so, but I could do with less distractions in my pocket to be honest.

I played with a Surface Book for a few minutes. Hardly definitive, but I think it's a fantastic device. People wanting it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Sure, it's a lovely device. For the price, hell no. I can't believe we live in a world where Apple products seem reasonable in terms of price.

Comparable Apple products are about $200 less.

Given the fact that the Surface Book is meant to go toe to toe with the Macbook Pro.

At their lowest prices, A MBP is $1300 and the Surface Book is $1500. I mean, at that point, you just have to decide if a larger touch-screen, pen, and detachable tablet is worth an extra $200. I feel like the Surface Book also has better battery life, but I'm not certain.

At the high end, the Surface book does indeed get ludicrous. But so is Apple's ONLY MBP with dedicated graphics and 1 TB of storage. They're both $3200. Then, FOR THE SAME PRICE, you're weighing a 15 inch MBP screen against the Surface Books smaller (by 1.5") touch screen, pen, and detachable tablet.

The price is in line with the competition, basically. Unless you count the mid-range models with i5's and dedicated graphics where Apple has nothing. At those prices, the Surface Book is very competitive.

Unless you want to compare the $1100 MBP with a platter drive and 4GB RAM. You want ludicrous, that's a ludicrous price.

Maybe against other ultrabooks, the Surface Book is a hard ask. But they also offer less.

What I'm getting at is that the prices aren't ridiculous. There's a difference between expensive and ridiculous. The Surface book is expensive, not ridiculous.

I'm seeing way too many problems with the Surface Book to even consider one till gen 2 or 3 at least.

The reviews of the 950 are underwhelming, hard pass there too.

The rumored Surface Phone sounds much more interesting, but as only MS can do, it'll be a mess

The highest end Surface Book (i7/16 GB RAM/1 TB Flash/dGPU) is $3200. The highest end MBP (i7/16 GB RAM/1 TB Flash/dGPU) comes in at $3000.

Let's see, the i7 in the MBPr is a true i7 (4870 HQ), in that it's an actual quad core CPU, where as the i7 used in the SB is the 6600U, which is an ULV chipset, and a dual core CPU. The benchmarks between the two CPU's show the i7 in the MBP being far far superior. Apple needs to refresh the MBPr with Skylake CPU's. You get more ports in the MBPr (even the 13" MBPr), and the MBPr is more configurable in terms of specs/models. The kicker is I can actually get an edu discount on the MBPr, and they can be had in sales for regular consumers. But hey, at least Microsoft doesn't charge for the keyboard this time around :sneaky:

I want to love the Surface Book, but it's expensive, and I'm seeing loads of people w/ problems on the internet. I have a Surface Pro 2 and a MBPr. As versatile as the Surface Pro 2 can be, I much prefer using my MBPr because it's not trying to be something it can't be.

I think MS has the Apple problem (although it seems to apply to anyone who pushes the bounds of hardware design) where first generation devices are always problematic.
