For letting an entire group make a doodee on you, you should have at least gotten a $100 GC or something. A mouse is really lame, especially if they had Mexican food the night before.

Thankfully it was the mouse that crapped out, not the focus group. A rather small group, too, although it still would have been unpleasant.

Ummm. Why don't you try reading the OP's post.

Hard to say. I faxed in 3 different mice about 6 weeks ago. One was a wireless, and the other two were a bit older. I got a brand new wireless with base in the retail package about 3 weeks later. So far, I haven't gotten replacments for the other two.

Could it possibly be that they are out of stock on those items or back ordered?

I got a reply to the first submission...denied due to not being able to read serial number (MS Fax screwed it up apparently). They gave a number to call...I'll see if I can submit the info in another form.

It seems that people are being given different fax numbers.
Maybe there are different numbers for different areas of the country or different service rep. groups.

I was wondering when organzing the sheet to fax, does the photocopy and shipping info go on the same page?

I don't have a fax machine, but I did scan the bottom of my mouse. However, it's still really hard to read the serial numbers. I plan to fax the scanned copy of the bottom. Should I just write the serial numbers on the same sheet? I doupbt the print will be much clearer on a photocopy/fax machine.

Is there any free program to fax the sheet via the internet (and will it be accepted)?

No they are not asking for a sales receipt, I sent a fax with scans from 2 trackball explorers along with a note explaining that one scan does not show a complete serial number because it's worn off from cleaning.
Less than a week later I got my confirmation e-mail and a few days later I got my replacements, Microsoft gets an A+ for customer service.

Got my new Intellimouse Explorer yesterday, after faxing last tuesday. Don't know if it's the 3.0 or 4.0 though, will find out Saturday when I go pick it up. No receipt was ever asked for.

Here's the page about Warranty Replacement:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/support/products/document/US/EN,CRID=322,contentid=5328

According to it, you have to call them up at 702-269-3457 and get a RMA # and ship it back to them. That's definitely not as easy as Microsoft's.

I just received an email confirmation yesterday...guess they must've received the second fax I sent. Funny how earlier in the day I snail mailed a scan in response to the first rejection letter.

Wonder if they're going to send me two of them?

It doesn't take long at all... I faxed one in early in the week, received the replacement 2 or 3 business days later.

It turns out that each different type and model of M$ hardware product has a specific warranty duration, ranging from 2 years to "lifetime", so you need to keep this in mind when you call. This table shows the various products and warranty durations:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q173715

The rodents themselves, in addition to the PN, also have a manufacturing date code on the bottom label. It will be a 4 digit #, often in different looking print, like 0299 or 4101. The last two digits are the year and the first two are the week, so 41st week of 2001 for the latter date code. If they ask you the date you put the rodent into service, it needs to be within the warranty for that product, and not TOO far after the manufacture date.

Or else, like Ricky Ricardo used to say, "Lucy, you've got some 'splaining to do!"

They asked me when I bought my Intellimouse Explorer. I said, "sometime last year." That was ok with them.

I scanned the bottom of my mouse and inserted it into an MSWord doc. I tweaked up the contrast in Photoshop. I faxed via my Epson StylusScan 2000 printer and WinFax Pro 9.0. When I look at the record of the sent fax in WinFax, the scans are very black and the numbers are unreadable. I sent the fax twice in the late evening. I haven't gotten any email confirmation that they received my fax. It's been two days. Shouldn't they have responded by now, even if to reject my submittal?

Thanks

does the scan have to show the entire bottom of the mouse or just the part with the product ID..I ask because I cropped the image to save space....can rescan If necessary.
Also the lady I spoke with gave me a claim number (I'm assuming) and said something about putting something on one page and something else on the other..I cant remember, but I'm suppose to send 2 seperate faxes...any one know what's suppose to be on each fax?

thanks

I sent my request with two pages - an auto-generated simple cover page from Winfax (with all the text-info on it), and a page from Word where I pasted an image of the entire bottom of the mouse, and a "zoomed in" section of the mouse's Product ID number.

And, I just got an email yesterday saying that my product has been shipped!
