They will only replace retail mice, not OEM. So if you tried to get an OEM mouse replaced, that may explain why you didn't get a response.

Has anyone ever gotten one of their Bluetooth mice replaced? I have one that died on me out of warranty that I bit the bullet on and just re-purchased Would be great if I could get a replacement for it

Thanks to the OP this is a great deal nonetheless. And props to microsoft for this...

Hmm, I gotta call them too. No response, and I don't think I cought an OEM. I'm pretty sure it was a retail model I'd bought from MWave many moons ago. The mouse is still working great, but hey, I could really use a new optical mouse. How my other optical mouse broke is beyond me. These things are supposed to be bombproof. PEACE.

Do you mean you are trying to replace a mouse that is still working just fine?

Here was my experience:

Back about a year ago I did this because my mouse was actually defective. It didn't skip around, but was tempermental when right clicking. I sent in my fax, and they very promptly shipped me a new one.

I never got around to opening the package because I got a new mouse at work. However, now while at a new job, I opened up the package and used the mouse for about 2 months before it failed to left click properly (it registered double clicks when I only single clicked).

I called teh generic MS technical support number and they ran me around in circles a bunch. The Indian lady (and then man) were obviously just reading some scripted crap, although you could tell their pronunciation was good, but they could hardly understand me if I spoke beyond a 4th grade level.

...And that is what brought me here...I called the supplemental parts number listed above, and the very friendly Canadian woman on the line very promptly arranged for me to have a new mouse shipped out.

So, I extend my thanks to the good people here at Anandtech and to MS for getting me a new mouse. You guys have never let me down!

FYI, wont work on OEM mice... has to be retail boxed equipment. If its OEM, they will tell you to contact the retailer that sold you the oem hardware for warranty.

You dont have to do all the photocopying and stuff, last time I tried to replace my keyboard for a few loose key, I just call them up and tell them the serial. The number's at the back of the keyboard.

Yeah, they seems too easy to scam, anyone with a normal IQ can come up with some scheme...

my optical mouse died on me like a month ago. I wonder if they allow you to mail in the info instead of faxing it in?

Anyone know the answer to this?

I bought a Intellimouse Explorer when they first hit the market. Paid $100 bucks for it, and the box proclaimed lifetime warranty. Later, Microsoft changed that to a 5 year warranty. I don't have the box or anything from my original purchase. Do you still think they would honor the lifetime?

The warranty duration table link is invalid. After doing several exhaustive searches, I've been unable to find the new one. Does anyone know where MS moved this table to?

Thanks!

May I ask how do you get a replacement if you do not have an access to a fax machine? I have two mice from Microsoft in which are broken. One is an Optical IntelliMouse with IntelliEye Technology that the lights does not light up, while the other is a Trackball where the pointer does not show up in the screen. Is there any way to get a replacement from Micrsoft without a fax machine? Thank you in advance for any replies/comments/solutions.

you can fax also. The fax number they gave me on Oct 6 was 1(716)-447-7330.

Fax in

Bottom of the mouse (or the flap if you have Starck optical mouse)
Copy of the receipt (Preferred)

Name
Address

Telephone
Email.

She said give it about 3 days for processing and a confirmation email.
