I'd tend to disagree. They do deserve the rap they get regarding spyware, viruses and hackers. They're the ones that make an OS where everyone runs as an admin by default, not to mention the other glaring security holes (webpages that can decide they want to install software without informing the user). Your Honda analogy would be valid if the reason your car kept getting stolen was because the doors wouldn't stay locked when you locked them. Or the Firestone analogy would have more credence if Firestone decided to package razorblades with their tires. MS has long made a shoddy product and they deserve any and all bad rap for it...

I suppose it's ok for me to say I tend to agree with what I said. Shipping the razorblades with the tires? I believe we have a difference of opinion here that isn't going to be resolved possibly at any point in time. If some one hacks onto my computer I blame the hacker, not Linus Torvalds, or Bill Gates. If some one were to hack into yours you'd blame Bill, not the hacker?

I could VERY easily break into any car sitting outside my company?s office, I might not make off with the car, but I sure as heck could and steal anything in the glove box, or the stereo. But I'd be the one who did it. I could hack onto a neighbor?s wireless network, and delete any file that I saw fit, and you're telling me that Linksys, or Netgear are responsible for my malicious actions? If I'm at a bar and a girl slips something into my drink is the bar responsible for not putting a lid on my beer?

Ethics, understand it. Just because you can get away with it doesn't mean it's not your fault.

Microsoft, evil empire, yes. Responsible for the a@#holes of the world?s actions, no.

As for the quality of their product, I for one will be first to admit it?s not perfect, but I use it practically every single day, and (with the exception of Windows ME) 99.9% of the time it works exactly the way I want it to. Few things have served me better than MS Windows, Direct X, and the Visual Studio Suite. For a long time there I used MS Office without a hitch as well. Now I use Open Office though, not as functional? yet, but you can?t beat free. I?m sorry to hear you haven?t got your money?s worth out of MS?s wares, but I know I have, and no matter how popular it is to say they suck, and that they make cruddy software, ect. I?ll tell it like I see it.

After initially enjoying this program I have noticed that my login cookies keep getting automatically deleted. I think I can attribute it to this program. I am normally automatically logged into AT when I visit, but since installing Microsoft Antispy I have to log in all the time. Same goes for numerous other sites. I've disabled auto startup and no matter what settings I choose it seems to always start when I boot my PC.

Anyone else notice this?

Actually, Hondas ARE considered pretty darn easy to steal.

Installed it, ran it, and it found two pieces of spyware that Spy Sweeper had no clue about. Now my machine runs normally, without the lags that were present before. Frankly, I'm glad MS is working on this. Who better than they know how their OS is vulnerable to all this shite on the web?

I can't get around the validation process, it contues to dump me back to the validation page with this message:

This download is available running genuine Microsoft Windows. Click Continue in the Validation Recommended section above to begin the short validation process. Once validated, you will be returned to this page with specific instructions for obtaining the download.

Trust me, I'm running a valid copy of Win XP .. its my work PC.

Edit: Got it to work after clearing out cookies .... arghhhhhhh
