He will. Currently for enterprise users, Office 2016 is only available for those users that your administrator has deemed "first release" users. Your administrator has the option to classify everybody, nobody or any individual users as such. In the Office 365 console, I believe it's under "Service Settings" -> "Updates". That's off the top of my head.

Once he enables you for that, give it a few minutes (officially says to wait an hour but it worked for one of my users in about 5 minutes) and then login to your Office 365 account. You'll see an option to download the normal 2013 but a new option at the bottom to download 2016.

Sadly my ProPlus account is under my university. Who knows when I'll get it lol.

Is there a way to trial this (whist nto uninstalling any old versions of office). I need to upgrade the wifes office but she uses things like Trados with word. If I break those I'm going to suffer!

Since office 2007 you have have both/multiple versions installed.

May have to get the office 365 trial or unless you have access to some one that has the media for the volume licensing versions

Anyone know if the finally did these things?

Give you the ability to assign custom keyboard shortcuts to commands in Excel?
Brought back the macro recorder in Power Port?
Fixed the chart wizard in Excel so it is quicker to create simple chart (i.e. pre-2007 wizard)?
Is outlook's e-mail handling actually better than gmail's yet?
When you click a "send as e-mail" link in a program, does Outlook still treat the e-mail window as a dialog box, that prevents you from doing anything else in Outlook and does not bring in your normal format/signature?
For matter, do Dialog Boxes still completely prevent you from doing anything in the Office programs?
Have Powerpoint's Masters gone back to being as easy to use as 2003, or are they still a PITA?
Is there an easy way to export all of your settings/custom shortcuts/templates?

These are the things that would actually get me to upgrade, otherwise I'll stick with 2010. Most of them should've been in Office 2000 or not broke in 2007.

It'd also be nice if they'd let pick colors yourself and change built in ribbon submenus.

I'd really look into upgrading, if Word could somehow help fix bad styles/formatting and made numbered list formats easier to track/use/modify. I spend so much time fixing documents created by people that have no idea how to properly use Word. A lot of times it is easier to just blow away all formatting and start over.

Office 2013, at least Excel, is better than the 2010 version, especially when talking about charts and data, you can do things a lot easier.

Excel 2013 also lets you use multiple windows, which makes life much easier.

Does anyone know if at this point there is any Disadvantage to going with the 64 bit version of Office?

some plugins may or may not work but on the other hand, there is 0 benefit to installing the 64-Bit version. Really, think of it, when do you deal with an office file that is larger than 3.2GB to require the x64 increased memory limit?

You don't need a 3.2 GB file to get Office to need 3.2GB of RAM. I routinely get my Excel into 1GB memory range with just a 50MB file open. If there is a lot of data and a lot calculation threads, you memory footprint will be a lot bigger than the file you are working with.

As far as downsides go, I have been working with a 64-bit version of Office since 2007 and haven't run into any issues with either the program itself or compatibility even though I used some add-on in that time. Unless you know for sure that a particular tool you needs does not play well with the 32-bit version, I would not worry about it.

I run office 2010 pro x64 and it works well for me on my desktop. My laptop and tablet both have office 365 on them with the table running 32 bit and it works well too.

The only problem I ran into was a plugin called ASAP utilities that is a collection of 300 macros. Only works with the 32 bit version of Excel and I use that all day long on most days at work.
