Microsoft Office doesn't run correctly on a limited account

re: the link above: I think your best option, considering the security ramifications, is to create an "Administrative Access Point" vs. giving each user "elevated privileges" as mentioned in the article. You'll see what I mean by reading the article.

Yeah, the cleaner installed fine finally, but it also didn't help. I'll try that admin access point thing and see how it goes.

why don't you check the event logs to see why it's stopping. maybe you need to change some privs on some reg keys. the event logs will tell you what's happening.

You are running XP Pro? If so, Right click on My Computer then click on Manage. Check the Event Log Applications. You'll probably see a big red X or exclamation where it is having problems. Check the log to see what the problem is.

Sorry for the massive time lapse since my last update. Work has been busy and installing Office on that computer has been the least of my worries. I ended up just installing Open Office for the time being and I think I may just leave it.

I think what happened is somewhere along the line I set a permission for the account to be "too low" or whatever the term is for it. mechBgon, I followed your walk-through from my old post here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=32&threadid=1967651&enterthread=y
