Microsoft router m100 - any good?

thinking of buying a router - well been thinking about it on and off for a few years but i see a microsoft M100 Router selling for 39$ canadian at vibe and that is a exellent price for a router if it is any good.

my friend has a MS wireless g series and loves it but i am worried that the price is so low that ms might be stopping it and maybe stopping support as in updates and firmware for this.

does anyone have it or have any comments about it?

i am looking for a cheap but good way to add a bit more protection to my system. already have za 4.x

not really sure that i need a router since i run 1-2 comps that arent networked together but with the wyrms recently i am more security conscience.

any advice or info on this router would be appreciated

No different than the others. Unless you consider the attractive look of the Plastic as an important asset.

In the US it is hard to recommend it since it is usually more expensive than the others.

39$ is by far the cheapest router i have seen up here without a rebate. i dont want wireless and plastic doesnt bother me

just want to know it will be supported for atleast another year or so and not dropped like so many other ms products.

I would definitely not reccomend it. I got one before - although setup and everything was a breeze, it had 1 serious problem - randomly disconnecting. You would be playing a game, for example, and all of a sudden all the computers (3 of them using it, commonly all being played on) would disconnect simeltaneously. A second later the internet would be back and working again...but it's too late for your game.

We replaced it because of how annoying that issue was with a Netgear router, and things have been fine ever since,
