Do you know if there are any Bluetooth GPS bundles?

Who knows of a good GPS System?

Bluetooth GPS Receivers

GPS Bundled Package for the Pocket PC

GPS Passion Club (additional discounts w/club donation)

Upgrading Belkin Clipon GPS to Xtrac2 problem

I personally went with the $158 ($140 + $18 shipping) Bluetooth GPS from Belkin (same as Fortuna Clip-on) that included Intellinav 1.1 laptop/PDA navigation software and bought Streets and Trips 2005 separately.

The nice thing about the Bluetooth Receivers  :
a) no cords
b) Standard NMEA output (so it works with *wide* range of third party software)
c) Works equally well with Laptops and PDA devices
d) Extremely accurate

Did they actually upgrade anything this year? I had 2001 and 2004 was NO IMPROVEMENT. 2001 was actually better at giving more logical directions automatically, and 2004 still doesn't have road updates that are years old...

such is crap.

MS Streets & Trips 2005

MS Streets and Trips and Mappoint

What's new in Streets & Trips
===================

This version of Microsoft Streets & Trips has several new features.

Easier configuration of GPS devices
-----------------------------------------

You can also use the GPS task pane to turn on options, such as a GPS trail that is displayed on your map, or to recalculate a route from your GPS-determined location.

Pocket Streets for Smartphone
-----------------------------------
Streets & Trips now includes both Pocket Streets for Pocket PC and Pocket Streets for Smartphone.

Updated map with new data
--------------------------------
The map includes new streets and highways, new addresses, and updated highway exit numbers.

Improved Web search capability
------------------------------------
Streets & Trip Web search functionality has been expanded so that you can use MSN® Search to search for information about pushpins and points of interest in addition to cities, landmarks, and so on.

Additional options for displaying latitude and longitude coordinates
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Streets & Trips now provides you with options for displaying latitude and longitude coordinates in various formats.

I checked the Sale Ad on-line and don't see this it as being on sale.
I do see it on-line at Compusa for $129.99.

In addition to the sams club deal, Microsoft is offering a $10 rebate on Streets and Trips 2005. So, that makes the bottom line price 13 bucks. You just can't beat that.

Up until now, I have been using S&T 2002. It's worked great. But the 2005 GPS add-ons are enough for me to cough up the whopping 13 dollars.

By the way-- the GPS unit I use with my laptop was from DELUO - www.deluo.com. They have standalone GPS units (60 bucks!), or packaged Rand McNally software and GPS for under $100. The Rand McNally software is cool, because it gives "turn by turn" instructions, over the laptop speakers. "You have a manuever in 2 miles". Kind of cool- and a nifty and inexpensive way to experiment.

In my experience-- the directional stuff with the Rand McNally software is great-- but the software is a bit buggy. Streets and Trips is VERY stable--- but does not have much more than "where you are" GPS functionality. ("reroute from HERE" feature, a new add-on for 2005, should be a very nice thing tho).

Overall, the two software packages complement each other.

As far as GPS compatability-- nearly any GPS unit will work. If you get a good handheld GPS for say, Geocaching (see: http://www.geocaching.com), the handheld GPS units that come with a serial cable will also work with Streets and Trips.

However- the cute little USB units are a great permanent add-on for your laptop.

Anyway, that's my thoughts. GO GET Streets and Trips for $13.
