I have a 2008 Ford Fusion SEL that I waited to get so that it had the Sync system on it. I would say 90% of the time it works as well as advertised. There are some times that it doesn't understand what you are saying although I attribute that mostly to road noise/heater blasting. There is no training whatsoever except for initially installing your phone in the system which takes about a minute. It is completely hands free and all you have to do is push a button on the wheel and say a command. There are some features it wont let you do while the car is in drive I believe so you cannot really lose focus.
The MP3 player portion can use an Ipod or even better it can just link to a USB flash drive. Just plug it in and push the button and say what artist/song/album/genre you want and it will go right to it. It really is impressive.
I use the phone aspects more than anything as it links up via bluetooth and indexes your phonebook automatically. If you are talking on the phone and get in the car it takes about 10 seconds for it to transfer over to the car system, same when getting out of the car. I'm glad I waited for it because it's definitely worth whatever price they charge for it.

A few of my friends have focus' with it. It works really well, surprisingly well. There are very few things that impress me that ford has done, technology wise. This impressed me.

The first real post of the thread. Thanks for all the info. How much did you end up paying for it, or are you leasing your Fusion?

The biggest problem Ford has is the legacy of poor quality and lackluster products they have, as is shown in this thread. What's amusing is that the same people would likely praise Mercedes for the quality of their vehicles even though their repair histories are horrible lately since shifting production out of Germany. In ATOT terms: Ignorance FTW!
You want boring? Let's talk about Toyota. *snore*
The American manufacturers are doing a lot of interesting stuff lately. I'm not in the market for a new vehicle right now, though we're likely to buy a minivan in the next few years. We'll be looking at Chrysler/Dodge then, not Honda or Nissan.

Got to finally try a vehicle with SYNC, Wow is all I have to say, it's damn near amazing. I could play anything I wanted from my iPod Touch. I also paired a bluetooth iPhone and was able to call people, but for some reason it would not download the contact list.
All in all it's very very cool.

Ford has more than just legacy to contend with. They offer nothing in the way of features, other than Sync (which is a recent addition). They have a leg up on Chrysler in that there is quality involved, but they are lacking when compared to GM. Seriously, the Mercury Milan I test drove reminded me of my old POS 2 Door Explorer.

Ford sucks, Sync sucks. Quit giving people more reasons to not pay attention to the road.

Anyone have it in their vehicle or seen it first hand? I cant imagine it works as good as the commercials make it seem, but it may be cool.
