This has been available for a while but is a great deal. So is office.

You download a couple of files that you run to do an but be aware that you CANNOT upgrade to vista 64 from windows xp 32 bit. For some reason, the installer file just won't work. You can get around this by using another vista 64 ultimate disk and just entering your legitimate key. Or, you can create your own Bootable dvd instead of paying that 10 bucks for the "backup dvd" by following these instructions.

Does anyone know if the install file you download for the Vista Upgrade is the same as what you would get if bought retail in a box? I've tried to contact Microsoft and ask directly but I got no actual answer.

Yeah, but if you do the "double install trick" which is what I did with the vista x64 version,then you can avoid upgrading.

Basically in a nutshell, the first time you install you do not enter in the key so it installs the OS as a trial. The 2nd time around you install you enter in the proper key so it upgrades from the trial.

BTW if you need both Office and Vista but it's not a rush, it might be a better deal to look around FW for coupons on MSDN TechNet subscriptions for students...$99 for the one year, definitely worth it.

I did not know Vista Ultimate was part of the deal too. I bought Ultimate Upgrade for one of my computers but another copy would be great since I use remote desktop all the time.

Hopefully I qualify.
