i love no doubt! but it was just weird getting to SJSU and seeing a huge line outside the event center and wondering.. (dang.. what happened to the geeks and glasses)? Until we finally found the Student Union and scary to say "felt we were at home" =)

it didn't hit me until a bum asked us if we got tickets.. ohh okay, sorry man!

.. and getting hit with the $5 parking fee for the concert was kinda lame, but oh well! =) I enjoyed the experience and look forward to messing around with .net !=)

Well I guess I was not alone. I also happened to have stood in this really long line that went all the way up to streets. I was telling myself. Guess too many people signed up.. and then saw too many girls and asked one to them only to realize it was for NO DOUBT concert. Finally saw the .NET banner and went it to get my package.

If any of you did not make it since u could not register, you should have still gone for the event. There was this lgir who said she could not register and she was asked to write her name and she got the package. Just when she was finished a guy comes behind her and asks if he could pick up the package for his friend as he could not make it and the rep refused. What a dumb ass. he could have got it himself....

The food was bad.... and yes i did not win anything... damn that CD case took forever to be claimed....

Got back a bit ago from the Cambridge event. One of the people that was checking students in said that MS was letting everyone in and wasn't turning anyone away. Sure enough, during this event, there were people sitting on the floor. The next one of these I go to, I'm sneaking in a bottle of jack and drinking everytime someone says cool.

haha, that was my girlfriend....and she was getting it for me She was like 1 of maybe 3 girls in the crowd and just came along to get me an extra goody bag. Thank god, because dunno what I would do with only one highlighter. BTW, I showed up with like 15 minutes left in the event and got the software no problem. Talk about a cake walk. Was shotty driving in the rain for 2 friggin hours. Oh well, msft did not dissapoint(i can't spell). Thirsty? Then write a prog to find you the nearest Starbucks...

The event in Cambridge was great, except that I couldn't understand what the MS female instructor was saying [her accent was a bit heavy, she spoke too fast & the sound system was a bit muffled]

No long lines either. They checked IDs, but not too carefully- I think they were only used to find your name on the registration list.
Well worth the long drive in the rain.

I went to the Cambridge event also! Uh huh, I can't hear what's the lady said also. Me and my friend were like "HUH!?" Anyway, presentation was pretty interesting afterall. The food kind of suck though, cause by the time I got there, there's like nothing left.

Well, I got what I want, and I am happy with it.

Hey, you guys see this black dude when you get out of the parking lot last night? I don't have my windows open, and just ignored him, but I saw he talk with lots people in the car while waiting to get out of that place.

I went to the Cambridge launch also.. was the guy with the plaid yellow shirt and dark blue jeans on the floor. You might notice me walking back and forth during the event to get some food and drinks, haha! Went with four of my friends. One of them didn't register and they still let him in. BUT......... guess what I got???

- 4 copies of Visual .net
- 4 copies of Windows XP Pro
- 4 t-shirts
- 17 frisbees
- 72 spiderballs

My friends got similiar items, one of them even won one of those $100 American Express checks. He got two extra raffle tickets from a couple leaving early and one of those tickets were the winners, lol. Goes to show you should always stay till the end. The event was awesome and shorter than the stated time. People had a fetish with saying, "That was Cooooool!". And everytime they did it, the reps would throw spiderballs and frisbees out. The programmer guy wasn't bad, we even learned how to prog to find the nearest Starbucks haha. At the end when people left, this lady got a ENTIRE box of the goody baggies saying she was a CS professor. She probably was though. It was funny when people left and alot of them waited near where those extra bags were and didn't know if they should take them. I was up in front with a friend and he's like, "TAKE SOME!", so I grabbed a bunch and gave to him and grabbed some more and started walking. A bunch of people saw what we did and tried to do the same, but the guy working said, "No no no, these aren't suppose to be given away!" We came back 5 minutes later and they had BOXES of spiderballs and frisbees to pass away. We took ALOT! Like 300 worth between the 5 of us. Came back to our dorm and had a spiderball war in our hall... damn those things hurt like a mother..

BTW, that black dude in the parking lot was verifying our parking tickets. So instead of paying $12, all we had to pay was $5. Anyway, GOOD LAUNCH! I love Microsoft!

Anyone who went to the cambridge event (or any event), can you spare an extra copy of Win XP? Especially any of you who took multiple copies?

Somebody that got the .NET at the launch says that it has a 60-day trial period on the academic version. Is that true? I thought that it was a fully functional VS.NET academic edition. Is it only a trial version or something?

I went to the one at Georgia State and the MS employee that was speaking said that this was a complete version with absolutely NO time restrictions.

Its amazing to me how far/long this thread has made it with the wrong info in the title... Shoud be Windows XP and not office...

Regardless a great deal.

See all of you tonight at DePaul.

For those of you with parking worries, your very justified. Today is the first day of the spring quarter for DePaul and they here will be night classes on all campuses tonight. Thus parking will be tight.

I would suggest, since parking is always limited/tight in the city, especially in Lincoln Park, that people come in groups or take the CTA (the 'L' or Bus system).

Take a look a couple of pages back for parking info. DePaul has two lots for public parking, both of which should fill up fast. Night classes for DePaul start at 5:45 PM, so unless you get there really early the lots will be full. Like people have said before, take the "L" or a bus, parking in Lincoln Park, especially near DePaul, sucks.

So, I went and picked up my stuff at DePaul and had some food... Then I took off about 6:25. I presume because there was very little turn out at 6:25 that all your guys grabbed bunches of extra copies...

So could somebody please clarify, the product key on the Win XP Pro disk. Is that the same style product key as on older windows disks, i.e. if you've got the key you can install it on any machine? If not what is it?

most of hte people started turnign out around 7. The actual presenation didn't start until much later.. perhaps 7:30 - 8. Food was pretty good. =D

Well, I almost didn't make it, but I decided to try get there at the last minute. Traffic was hell and it was snowing, but after an hour in gridlock, I made it there around 6:25. I showed an ID from another school and grabbed my goodies. Some of the food wasn't bad, considering it was free. I filled up and sat down, figuring I'd give the presentation a few minutes of my time (I was mildly interested).

Anyway, after 45 minutes of music, and still no presentation, I just grabbed some cookies and hit the road. Obviously, I should have just taken off after stuffing my face.

Thanks Bill!
