sure - i realize it's targetted at students but they didn't mention that it was a strict requirement when i signed up - merely a guideline.

i wonder if ID from a non-us university counts.

I'll be at UCLA...gonna drive down a bit early just in case. Oh and if you think it'll be boring, just take your pda and pretend you're taking notes while playing bejeweled. In other words, just be a normal student!

8:15-8:30 Raffle Drawings and goodie bag pick-up
8:30-10:00 Live Band and leftover food

Goodie Bag had Visual Studio .Net, XP Pro, T-shirt, Pen, highlighter, notepad, box of mints and literature.

Had to sit on the floor, no chairs--s*cks for us old farts.

BTW...they did check IDs and only let Academic faculty, staff and students in. Good news though, many no-shows and they let non-registered students in on a space available basis.

Just got back from UCLA event. Like creektech said it was pretty cool. They didn't even make us stay the whole time. Everybody just took off and left the band playing a horrible cover of "Moulin Rouge" As raffle prizes they gave away 2 x-boxes, 5 $100 amex gift checks and other assorted .NET doo-dads (fleece, duffel bag, cd case). Too bad I didn't win, but that thing was packed! Good luck to everybody who goes.

creektech, since you're from Ohio, I'm assuming you went to the Miami Oxford event - did you notice a guy wearing a black leather jacket with a black hat? That was my friend I assumed the demo was going to take a hell of a while but it was quite short and the free stuff was totally worth it.

Anyway, anybody know if WindowsXP and VisualStudio.Net Academic version requires the user to register with MS? If not, I'm gonna make a few copies for my friends at school (I'm assuming this would be legal since they're students).

Yep, not too bad, i guess the .NET stuff is kinda cool... we got our goodie bags when we entered. i was tempted just to leave, but decided hang out. the food was pretty good. but i felt bad for the band! HA! Talk about tough crowd...

Just got back from the UCLA seminar. They had a sign saying that you needed school ID, but I don't have one, and they didn't ask.

They gave the goodie bag as you walked in, so there was no reason for me to stick around.

Along with the programs, I got a t-shirt, a tin of mints, a pen, a pencil with a deelybob on top, and a notepad. Not a bad score.
