honestly i have no intention of installing vis studio... Just something about having a legit piece of software i normally couldnt afford excites me. I know. I am a dork. And a cheap dork at that. >>
well , when i was a first year student here at ucla, they gave us all full visual studio 6.0 pro edition, retail box . i kid you not. later on they switched to academic. I made a bunch of money buying them off people, since we only needed visual C++ for the class, and well they sell that at the studnet store for $30 so why not sell the visual studio. After the school dean called me into the office and 4 more meetings with them, i was finally told that i didn nothing wrong since i signed nothing, and that i explained to them that visual studio was not a required class material. they tried to say it was class material. ANyways the next year because of me you had to sign a waiver to get your visual studio and not sell it. I still dont know who ratted me out, not that i was doing anything wrong, but i felt like i was being ratted out.
Anyways, i dont mind microsoft giving me stuff and trying to woo me over. Whydoesnt the linux community give me stuff. Oh yeah i remember now its free. Yes i've used gcc probably far more than visual studio in the last 2 years or so. Gcc is a good compiler. pico is a half decent text editor. They dont compare at all to visual studio though. Microsoft makes good products. they try to endear themselves to future software engineers. nothing wrong with that, imean if they were giving us crappy software we wouldnt use it, but their software is GOOD. which means they are giving us software we would want to use but just cant afford right now, and our employers will pay in the future so its just giving us a head start. Until someone can do a better job, then microsoft makes the best programming IDE for me (codewarrior sucks ass too).
