Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000

Hey All,

I saw this mouse on MS's website and was intrigued, partly because my mx1000 is becoming less and less comfortable. Anybody out there used this mouse yet? If so, how do you like the shape and overall performance? Are the buttons/scroll wheel click customizable with driver software?

I just realized, it doesn't look like this is rechargeable. Can someone confirm this?

I have one. It is not rechargable.

The look, feel, and performance is all great, except one thing. My middle mouse click (clicking down on the wheel) is very inconsistent. I have to click from the front, and sort of.. click back towards the mouse, to get it to work. If I just click down on top like normal, it the click doesn't register. My old MS optical did not have this problem.

I am not sure if this is defective or if it's just the way it is.

Well, I spoke too soon.

After playing with the settings, I figured out that if you disable horizontal scrolling, the middle click works perfectly. I guess the mouse registers any slight movement during the click action as a scroll instead of a click. I'd never use horizontal scrolling anyway.

I guess the verdict is that although it might not have the latest and greatest technology, it's pretty good overall.

Thanks, sil0nt. I actually went by an Office Max that had one on display. It felt comfortable. Unfortunately, the fact that it's not rechargeable is a deal-breaker for me. So, the search continues...

For what it is worth I like a replaceable batt as if it fails when I need it I can swap a batt and be back in buisiness in seconds. At least with my logitech mx600 iI have been on my 1st set of AA batts about 8 months of daily use, so far with no sign of the low batt warning. YMMV
