Cheapest I could find elsewhere was ~$36 shipped.

Yeas I saw that but you can use the w/l version on xp too. You however, would need an IR receiver like this which will be available very soon.

In fact I just pulled trigger for the w/l version for $30 and will order the base IR receiver when comes available.

You can use any 360 controller with windows, just plug it in using the play and charge kit (if wireless) and use these drivers Link
